Research suggests chocolate chip cookies equivalent to drug addiction in the brain

They're not only delicious, but they can also be dangerously addictive.

Research suggests the ingredients in a chocolate chip cookie triggers the same addictive response in the brain as cocaine and marijuana.

A traditional chocolate chip cookie contains 2.5 teaspoons of sugar, which induces some of the same responses as cocaine.

As for chocolate, it contains small amounts of a compound that trigger the same part of your brain as the addictive ingredient marijuana, THC.

The two ingredients together create a harmonious flavor that can double the addiction.

Now that makes a perfect sense to crave the dangerously addictive treat.

I'll admit that I'm addicted to chocolate chip cookies, too.

Sugar is highly addictive. I don't think chocolate chip cookies are any more addictive than any other delicious sweet thing.

We have to be sure we are discussing the one true chocolate chip cookie and not inferior ones.

As @savagewind pointed out, they must come straight from the oven and into the mouth as soon as one's fingers and mouth don't burn (much).

And of course the recipe must be scripturally accurate. The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe Ever is pretty close as long as you use chunks as the pictures show. And of course, the chunks must be properly dark and not wimpy semi-dark or even ugh, milk chocolate.

I voted yes, but there is a qualifier: there is a certain level of quality necessary to trigger my addictive tendencies, and I do not crave nor consume inferior chocolate chip cookies....

They have to be chewy. There is no point in crunchy chocolate chip cookies.
They have to be chocolatey. There is no point in cakey chocolate chip cookies.
They have to be dense. There is no point in airy chocolate chip cookies.
They have to be laced with sugar. There is no point in bland chocolate chip cookies.
They should also have a little bit of crispiness on the outside. There is no point to mushy chocolate chip cookies.

Weed isn't physically addictive, though.
Yup. A strong indication I doubt they've done it. When it comes to drugs, it's probably the easiest thing to put down. Cocaine? It's in very poor taste to compare that to a chocolate chip cookie, because the scans can look similar, but when you eat a cookie you feel absolutely nothing at all like you do after using coke in regards to wanting more.
But, in my working experience, such people in their ranks often are either highly knowledgeable in drugs with experience, or have very little experience and knowledge with drugs (but yet it's astounding at how much alcohol is consumed). And the differences are clear, because that last group does say dumb things like they did in the OP article.
