What do you think of Jeremiah 29:8-9?

A lot of these prophets spoke of the broken covenant with Israel and the coming Messiah,
I put it to you the guys who wrote this lived in the latter part of the Roman empire, or shortly
thereafter. After all, how could they have known about the end of Israel and the Messiah?

Some guys, such as Isaiah and Ezekiel, spoke about a SECOND RETURN of the Jews to
their homeland. These guys lived back in the 1950's or 1960's.

The return of the exiles to Judah, and the rebuilding of Jerusalem, was accomplished in three main stages. The first and main party returns with Zerubbabel 538 BC. They rebuild the temple. A second party returns with Ezra about 80 years later. They make spiritual and religious restoration and reform. A third wave returns with Nehemiah in 445 BC.

Let’s agree to disagree,
Or even disagree to agree,
Either way..YOU are RIGHT!
But Remember!!! It be the ONLY MATTER of YOU being WRONG..and for the ONE whom claims in more “I knows”..will be the ONE who will NOT..proceed in the ‘Kingdom of God’.

Messiah is a King. Jesus was not a king. He doesn't get a second chance.

No, quite the opposite; they'll return and the ten lost tribes with them.

But the Jews didn't.

Fail.

I don't even know what this means.

Great!

So where are the ten lost tribes? Where's the world peace? The messiah king? The worldwide knowledge of the G-d of Israel as G-d?

The Gentiles time was when the Roman armies carried their standards all over Jerusalem.

The divisions of the Roman army had different types of army standards, either a standard called »signum« or a flag named »vexillum« in Latin. Originally, a unit had one of the following five creatures as an insignia: eagle, wolf, minotaur, horse and boar. The eagle (»aquila«) finally became the …

Since I'm sitting here asking for world peace on Religious Forums, and have known I've been sent from Heaven since 4-5 years old, it is up to you on here?

It is already prophesied people won't listen, WW3 will happen with all nations coming against Israel (Armageddon), then after we keep the Saints (Ten Tribes); where God appoints the king without all these arguments, and removes all those who've made up false texts claiming they have peace, when the Curse states they shall be the ones removed (Deuteronomy 29:19-28).

In my opinion. :innocent:

The nations already came against Israel. Look at a map of the first century Roman Empire.. Arabs, Syrians and Egyptians fought with Titus and his Roman legions.

There could have been lots of mini-waves too. Dribs and drabs of Jews returning home.
Some in a hurry, some not-so-sure-about-this. And after the second return Israel was
attacked but fended off the enemy with the help of an unnamed ally - maybe Persia, who
knows. Good thing this second return had an ally - they were now living in "unwalled cities."
And they didn't just come out of Babylon, they came back from all the world.
It's more complicated than I thought.
The problem is - this scenario isn't in the historic record.

Who do YOU think Zechariah is speaking of?

9:9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and
victorious,
gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse
from Jerusalem, and the bow of war will be broken. Then He will proclaim peace to the nations; His dominion will extend from
sea to sea, and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.…

12:9
On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.
And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me,
the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves
for a firstborn son.

The fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9 is recorded in 2 Maccabees 10.

During this celebration in which Judas Maccabees retook Jerusalem and restored and reconsecrated the Temple after it had been defiled by the Greeks, the people of Jerusalem were said to have waved palm branches in celebration much like they had done with Christ in Matthew 21.

Prophetically Zechariah 11 was the Second Temple destruction, and Diaspora. - Roman siege against Israel.

Zechariah 11:15-17 is the Rabbinic Jews during the exile among the nations, making up stuff as they're Blinded (Zechariah 12:4) as the Curse states (Deuteronomy 28:28-29).

Zechariah 12 - 13:6 is then Armageddon, and the start of the Messianic age - where God has already cleansed all of humanity of its idols in a Day.

On that Day it is to be like Sodom and Gomorrah globally, where the Holy Fire will literally wash mankind removing all demons.

In my opinion. :innocent:

Have you even read this passage?

And I will cut off the chariots from Ephraim, and the horses from Jerusalem; and the bow of war shall be cut off. And he shall speak peace to the nations, and his rule shall be from the sea to the west and from the river to the ends of the earth.

Who is currently attacking Jerusalem? Have these nations been destroyed?

Also this is what my translation says,

But I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and supplication: And they shall look towards Me, regarding those whom the nations have thrust through. And they shall mourn for him (that is slain) as one mourns for an only son, and shall be in bitterness over him, therefore, as one that is in bitterness for a firstborn.

2 Maccabees
chapter 10 KJV (King James Version) 1 Now Maccabeus and his company, the Lord guiding them, recovered the temple and the city:. 2 But the altars which the heathen had built in the open street, and also the chapels, they pulled down.. 3 And having cleansed the temple they made another altar, and striking stones they took fire out of them, and offered a sacrifice after two years, and ...

What do you think of Jeremiah 29:8-9?
It is part of a longer passage, telling the Jews exiled to Babylon to be patient and to make the best of their exile because they would be stuck there for 70 years and only then would come home. Jeremiah then says they should not to listen to Hananiah, for example, who had wrongly claimed they would be freed within two.

And, er, that's it.

Or are you suggesting there is another, more obscure significance to this passage and, if so, what?

Hardly ever read any scholars, only read religious texts, and then God has shown us what is coming since I was a child, before reading any of the texts.

Well, perhaps you should study scripture. Its about rededicating the Temple after it had been defiled by the Greeks and the Greek king Antiochus IV Epiphanes. Long before the birth of Christ.
