If humans are made in the image of God why not make it so that we can't be anymore?
Why not make it so that a person's status as an image bearer of God is revoked if they don't want it anymore?
I thought God cared about giving people choices.

Life is the greatest gift we have been given. Those who don’t want it are free to end it if they so wish. How we choose to live whether it be according to God’s counsels or man’s ways is also ours alone.

The state of the world today is the result of our choices. If we really want peace then we must accept all people as equals for if this group or that group claim superiority and seek to dominate and control the world then there can only be conflict and wars.

Those who preach that their way is the only way and all others are wrong are only creating division but it is up to us whether we listen to them or not.

So our image is what we choose it to be. God only gave us life and the ‘potential’ to be like Him but we are free to choose the path we wish to walk and not use that potential.

Earth is a factory for evolution of consciousness, we need to live by the Golden Rule but before that we need to adapt motto "Live and let live".

That is what happens in Hell IMHO. People are in darkness, and the believers are the light bearers.

Very true. One extremely important thing I believe in that regard is to see with our own eyes not blindly follow others and to think with our own minds and not the minds of others. So people themselves are guilty if they blindly follow a religious or any leader which appeases their ego by teaching superiority and exclusivism ideologies.

Any thinking person knows that only acceptance of all as equals can possibly lead to peace and harmony and that those preaching such doctrines are really anti peace and anti humanity for we are all human beings.

I think in time people are questioning more and will abandon divisive ideologies for one which is inclusive and accepting of one and all as equals. But this will take time as we are so used to being spoon fed that our minds have become lazy not realizing by following blindly without question, we open ourselves to all sorts of manipulation and brainwashing.

Actually, imho, if you think about Adam was made in the image of God. When they were kicked out of the Garden the only "people" they had to intermix and mate with were the cave men---Neanderthals, et al, who were not necessarily made in God's image. This is why most of us are so damned ugly now....just sayin.

Must be true. Moses saw them.

This is what Moses saw

giphy.gif

And it wasn't God but according to the Bible:

Exodus 3:2 New International Version (NIV)
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.

Acts 7:30 New International Version (NIV)
“After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to Moses in the flames of a burning bush in the desert near Mount Sinai.

With regards to the gods of other people, they have buttocks
And you know what happens if you have buttocks....

Exodus 33:23 Then I will take My hand away, and you will see My back; but My face must not be seen."
Certainly God has buttocks, because he created man in his own image.

Also, what about Y'hoshua 'who never left the inside of the tent'?
Which tent? Whose tent? Whose hind part did Moses see? ADONAI or Joshua?

Exodus 33:21-23 New International Version (NIV)
Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”

Still no buttocks

Why is the only true God have no buttocks?

The reason is so simple and this is what the Bible says:

Romans 1:20 New International Version (NIV)
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

What does invisible means in layman's term?

Yeah, invisible. No one has seen him. Nothing in the world evidences his presence. Just human imaginatiopn. He is the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Or could be Cthulhu. But people still write books and books on him, and even kill each other for him. What foolishness!

God is invisible.
He cannot be seen.
He is a spirit.
And true No one has ever seen God

John 1:18 New International Version (NIV)
No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

Since no one has ever seen God
What then is the image of God which is the original post?

Different folks have different Gods
My God is in the Bible.
Your God is different from my God
Others do not believe in God because they think they are wiser than God.
Others have the Flying Spaghetti Monster as God
probably a side effect of eating too much pasta
Others worship Trump as a God

And indeed a vast majority of religions are foolishness.
They worship things crafted by humans hands and invented by human minds.
They have plenty of Gods to speak of and waste their time to.

But this is what I am reminded of:

1 Corinthians 8:5-7 New International Version (NIV)
For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled.

Or the blood and flesh of that God.

I agree that belief in Gods, soul and books is foolishness - that is why I am an atheist.

...

Please tell, what do you think it means to be an image of God?

And don’t worry, there is a way to not be. I just don’t know why someone would not want to be.

There goes the library.

Redirecting, what is the image of God if he cannot be seen?

The Bible says this:

Leviticus 11:44 New International Version (NIV)
I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground.

Joshua 24:19 New International Version (NIV)
Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.

Isaiah 5:19 New International Version (NIV)
to those who say, “Let God hurry;
let him hasten his work
so we may see it.
The plan of the Holy One of Israel—
let it approach, let it come into view,
so we may know it.”

So the image of the invisible God, the image which he made man is being Holy.
Animals cannot be holy, but man could

None of that makes any sense at all.

As per the Prajapita Brahmakumaris, God is an incorporeal point of light.

The human soul is similarly a point of light.

BrahmaKumari : A Picture is worth a Thousand Words

This might explain the Biblical teaching that all humans are made in the image of God.

Jesus himself states in the bible that God is light. One of the hundred names of God in the Quran is Al Noor meaning 'Light'.

So obviously the human soul or its essence would be of the nature of light.

To those who can see, they can understand
But to those who are blind, no matter how many verses I could show
They are still in the dark

Matthew 13:14-15 Good News Translation (GNT)
So the prophecy of Isaiah applies to them:

‘This people will listen and listen, but not understand;
they will look and look, but not see,
because their minds are dull,
and they have stopped up their ears
and have closed their eyes.
Otherwise, their eyes would see,
their ears would hear,
their minds would understand,
and they would turn to me, says God,
and I would heal them.’
