Question about the name Jesus

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
In a thread in this forum I wrote that Jesus is not directly a name, but the title of one who becomes enlighten within Christianity.
I added this link: Who Is the "Anointed One" in Scripture?

And would like to get more people to discuss this topic.
What is your understanding of the Name we today know as Jesus but probably was more like Yeshua and the meaning of Yeshua Christ is the anointed one

I might have mixed it with Christ being the title and not Jesus as I stated earlier

Is Anointed one similar to Enlighten one?

"Jesus
personal name of the Christian Savior, late 12c.; it is the Greek form of Joshua, used variously in translations of the Bible. From Late Latin Iesus (properly pronounced as three syllables), from Greek Iesous, which is an attempt to render into Greek the Aramaic (Semitic) proper name Jeshua (Hebrew Yeshua, Yoshua) "Jah is salvation." This was a common Jewish personal name during the Hellenizing period; it is the later form of Hebrew Yehoshua (see Joshua).

Old English used hælend "savior." The common Middle English form was Jesu/Iesu, from the Old French objective case form, from Latin oblique form Iesu (genitive, dative, ablative, vocative), surviving in some invocations. As an oath, attested from late 14c. For Jesus H. Christ (1924), see I.H.S. First record of Jesus freak is from 1970."

So, Mary never named him or addressed him Jesus, please. Right, please?

Jesus is not a title but a name. But "Christ" is a title which means "anointed". An "anointed" is someone who has been anointed. Therefore Jesus is not the only one who is called "Christ" in the Bible. Even today, someone who has been anointed can call himself a "Christ. But the difference between Jesus and the others is that Jesus is not "an anointed one" but "the anointed one".
And the name Jesus is not the original name of him. The name Jesus, like the name Jehovah, was brought into the world centuries later after Jesus' death by the Catholic Church.
Also the name Yeshua is not the original name. Yeshua means "God cries for help". Strong's Hebrew: 7769. שׁ֫וּעַ (shua) -- a cry for help
Actually it should mean "God saves". Also it does not mean Ye, but Yah.
The original name of the flesh of God is Yahusha, which means "Yahu saves".

If you're asserting that the name "Jesus" means "anointed one" I fail to see any corroboration in your link. It says;

"In most cases, the "anointed one" being described is a regular person who has been specially set apart for God's plan and purposes. However, there are other times when the "Anointed One" being described is God Himself -- largely in connection with Jesus, the Messiah."

So "anointed one" simply describes (is a title of) Jesus, and does NOT function as the origin of the name "Jesus.". All of which does leave "Jesus" as a direct name, and not the title of the person. In fact . . . .

"Jesus
personal name of the Christian Savior, late 12c.; it is the Greek form of Joshua, used variously in translations of the Bible. This was a common Jewish personal name during the Hellenizing period; it is the later form of Hebrew Yehoshua (see Joshua)."

Thank you :) Yes when I read your answer I can see that I was mixing the name Jesus and Christ in what I wanted to say :) Glad i got it corrected by you :)

Is Anointed one similar to Enlighten one?
Christ = Anointed One = Messiah

Enlightenment is similar to Genius = God in us = Immanuel
In Hebrew J/Y + Sus = Shall + Grub, Beast, etc (H5580), and in Greek, Pseudochristos = False Christs (G5580)
Yeshua means Salvation, and we see the Salvation of God interacting in different ways, then making promises using symbolic language.

H3444 (Yeshua) + H1961 (To become) = Exodus 15:2, Psalms 118:14-21, Isaiah 12:2 (2 Samuel 10:11 David Vs Ammon) +5 Verses Isaiah

H3444 (Yeshua) + H7200 (To see) = Exodus 14:13, Psalms 98:3, Isaiah 52:10 (2 Chronicles 20:17 Jehoshaphat Vs Ammon)

The name Yehoshua was given to Moses's friend Hosea son of Nun, which added shall + deliver/savoir, and also the Lord Saves.

In Exodus 23:20-24 Yahavah says he will put his title upon his messenger; Yehoshua son of Nun started the process in Joshua 3:10.

Then after the Babylonian exile Yehoshua son of Yehozadek (Lord's Righteousness) led them back.

Thus Yehoshua in the Synoptic Gospels is Hebraic, which is why it says he shall be called Yehoshua for he shall save his people (Matthew 1:21).

In my opinion. :innocent:
