Department of Homeland Security strategy adds white supremacy to list of threats

If President Obama's DHS security team had done this, I can just hear the howls now, As To Trump's DHS, I'm happy this has been done.

Recent mass shootings have "galvanized the Department of Homeland Security to expand its counterterrorism mission focus beyond terrorists operating aboard," acting DHS Sec. Kevin McAleenan.

"The continuing menace of racially based violent extremism, particularly white supremacist extremism, is an abhorrent affront to our nation, the struggle and unity of its diverse population, and the core values of both our society and our department," said Kevin McAleenan, the acting Homeland secretary, in a speech at the Brookings Institute in Washington.

DHS is stepping up its focus on what McAleenan called "targeted violence," in which an attacker selects the target in advance, driven by hate. Racism and anti-Semitism have fueled recent attacks on African-American churches, synagogues, and public places in California and Texas, he said.

The shooting at the Walmart in El Paso hit DHS particularly hard. Six of the victims were family members of DHS employees.

The U.S. seems to have a habit of creating enemies from within if they don't have one without, same thing happened in the early 90''s not too many years after the fall of the Berlin wall and the end of the Soviet Union except that time Bill Clinton was president. Militias were the "bad guys" then to be harassed, intimidated, and threatened by the ATF and F.B.I. even though they vast majority were above ground and completely legal with law abiding citizens joining them from all walks of life. Race and profession didn't seem to matter as you had people of all races and economic status represented. What mattered was that a lot of diverse people saw that something was very wrong in this country and militias were an outlet to vent their frustrations legally. Of course they were all branded racists and neo Nazis by much of the media, a common smear for political purposes to this day.
The government is using this to further diminish your rights, fear of the unknown is their weapon of choice so you won't mind at all.

And, of course, the Oklahoma City bombing had nothing to do with the bad image of the militia movement.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I agree with Candace Owens.

Candace Owens calls white supremacy ‘isolated’

The far left is, like usual , taking a radical group that is isolated and puffing it up for political gain.

White supremacist groups and the like have always been under the government eye, so this is nothing really new. It's a reaffirmation of what's already being done.

In the meantime, "Happy birthday Trisha".... I keep mine in the refrigerator. Keeps the gun powder dry, and the action quickerrrrrrrr~~

It was widely condemned by the vast majority of militia groups but that was not reported on much. Most of the members of militia groups were/are family oriented males and females that are law abiding citizens with steady jobs ranging from construction workers to doctors and lawyers and everything in between.
