Democratic POTUS

Ouroboros

Coincidentia oppositorum
I'm just thinking out loud (using my keyboard of course). Since the last presidential election, my prediction skills are lacking, to say the least. I fully expected Hillary to win in a landslide, and I was not in the minority.
I thought she would win too, but her manipulation in the primaries really put a lot of people at odds. I didn't vote for her because I didn't trust her.

The only person I know personally to predict Trump winning was an old truck driver. He said that every state he drove to and interacted with people that they were excited about Trump. I thought he was wrong until the election results came in. I wonder how many of those same folks are still excited about him.
I guess a lot of them. Apparently, the farmers are hurting the most from the trade war and they're mostly support him still.

To explain myself a little better, Trump's methods work. Their dirty, but they work. Trolling and griefing on his level is new to politics (in America at least), and people who support him love it, and people who hate him can't stop talking about him. In the end, he's in the center of attention. And who's being talked about, is the one who can get the extra edge. It's ugly, but it works.

There are dirtbags on both sides, no argument there, but Trump has taken politics to a new level of griefing.

For many years, each party has been part of dragging everyone else down, and Trump is just one notch better in debasement than anyone before. I fear to win, they have to compete on his level, one level lower, and next election even lower. It's a competition of how low you can go.[/QUOT Trump was just the catalyst to bring the true lefties out in the open. He broke open the pinata and their careful facade of being something else crumbled.

They are on display for all to see.

In that way Trump performed a service in that the true definitions of the cold civil war were exposed.

The sides, motives, end game are exposed.

Correct. They're not even allowed to have sex with their secretaries.
*In the office with an unpaid intern ? There is no executive who could survive that if exposed.

Then perjury, to cover it up, no no willy, that is a felony.

Seriously, is that really why people think Trump won?
Trump didn't win.

That's why he is having so much trouble implementing his campaign promises. The American people don't want them. That's why we voted against them.

Doesn't matter what he tries to do, he won't get much support from the people who really do have to win an election. Because they know he doesn't represent the USA electorate. He came in second in the 2016 election.

The biggest problem we have today is that we're not united, we're divided. "United we stand" is one motto that doesn't apply anymore. The only way the "big experiment" of a democracy to fail is when it breaks asunder from within, and that's where we are now.

Elizabeth Warren has a far more solid grasp of so many policy areas than any other candidate, and is pretty sensible into the bargain.

You know the purists will never accept that argument -- and I think they're probably right not to. The rules governing election of a President exist for a reason. If the reason has changed, then the rules need to change, and that can only be done through the painful process of constitutional amendment.

Bernie Sanders

It's always fun to read conservatives equating Democratic Socialism with Communism it further validates my viewpoint that people don't even know certain particular political philosophies mean.

Bernie was full communist in his early days. I just suspect his never really changed his stripes. I could be wrong, people change. Just think it'd be more fun if he did.

However I'll vote for him if he wins the nomination. Not that it matters, Calif is always going with the Democrat, but meh, gesture of goodwill. :D

The Constitutional Republic form of government is much to valuable to squander in having one of these dolts as President.

We might survive with massive Republican majorities in both houses of congress.

Biden will not win. He has peaked out with the alleged moderates, so all the socialist support will go in the end to princess liawatha, the bogus Indian from Massachusetts.

She fits the bill, female, full of promises with no plans to fulfill them, supports every wacky lefty cause that pops up, perfect.

It will be the most bizarre election, with the most bizarre dem candidate in US history. It will make the two bizarro candidates in 2016 look normal.

If a dimocrat wins in 2020, the dismantling of America will gather speed again, under a foul dank economy.

Ok, I'm just saying if you had to pick one. Least possible damage?

Sure, I suspect part of Trump's appeal was to throw a monkey wrench into established politics.

Absolutely.

I remember me talking to my kids years ago how screwed up politicians were and it would be good to have a bull in the china shop for once to clean out, or drain the swamp. Unfortunately, the method currently to draining it seems to be to fill it with more dirt. :(

I'm voting for Tulsi Gabbard in the primaries. She just hits all my sweet spots in terms of policies and I love that she's not only a combat vet, she's still in the service. She just has the most integrity in my eyes and she can unite both the left and the right in her opposition to these globalist wars for profit we've been sucked into as well as avoiding identity politics of both the "angry minority" and "angry white straight Christian" varieties.

To me, she's center-left enough to be a proposition to consider. Secondly, she seems much more intelligent and has a really nice demeanor. You really couldn't ask for a bigger contrast with Trump. Beyond that, she'd be immune to his attacks on her appearance, wit, or anything else -- so it'd come down to issues and he'd certainly have competition. She also is non-partisan even though she's running as Democrat and knows she needs to work with others to get things done. Also, big interviews on the Rubin Report and Joe Rogan that are worth watching.

Mind you, I'm not a leftist or rightist I'm an American and as close to a pure Libertarian as you can without getting into the joke that the Libertarian Party is. :D Anyway, a debate between her and Trump would be like a prize fight... exciting whoever wins...

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Lets suppose Trump loses in 2020.

As a conservative, which Democratic candidate would you prefer to win?
Knowing that this person will be president for 4 years at least and we want America to be as successful as possible.

I like Kamala Harris, she seems like most conservative among them. Even though publically she is supporting the liberal platform, she is still a law and order kind of gal.

I'd even like Bernie Sanders to win. Even though I expect Bernie to go full commie, at least it would be interesting.
My choice would be our beloved Pocahontas. Elizabeth Warren. I even remember making a thread on her as a good choice on the Socialist Democrat side of things. I'm kind of coming to the conclusion there are no good Democrat nominees for POTUS. Especially in light of this grave and serious threat to our economy if Warren would be elected which actually makes me regret making that thread.

Democrats' Fracking Bans: Bad for the Economy, Bad for the Environment | National Review

In some ways I kind of wonder if it would be a good thing because you get the right socialist democrat as president it will leave people with such a bad taste in their mouth that will never vote for a Democrat again when they start seeing the realities manifest from all those 'wonderful' promises.

I agree. The concept of what is best for the country has been replaced with defeat the enemy no matter the cost to the country.

I grew up in a moderate Conservative Republican family with my uncle as a Congressman. I remain with strongly physically conservative values, and remain so as was my uncle, but there is no place for me in Republican Party dominated by a Conservative Christian agenda. I am a registered independent. an have difficulty voting. If anyone in recent history I am closest to McCain.

OK with me, but she will not make the cut.

Bernie does not stand a chance, because of too extreme health care proposals. Bernie is the only one with anything close to a socialist agenda. I would not support Bernie. Republicans on the other hand cannot achieve anything on health care, because they are too extreme on the conservative side.

My parents were also republican, were I also can't seem to fit for similar reasoning.

It is probably a bad idea, but I think Bernie would be hilarious. Warren or Biden I think would be boring. Maybe boring might be a good thing for 4 years though.

I suspect no one can deal effectively with the American healthcare system. Too much money being made, too much vested interests.
