Getting Closer

Only sociopaths lack the necessary empathy not to understand basic right and wrong.
I find there are a number of people who ignore their conscience and are Not sociopaths.
They simply choose to ignore Bible standards and do their own thing.
A hardened conscience does Not necessarily mean hardened to the extreme point of being so calloused like flesh branded by a hot branding iron.

Hasn't climate change always been a reality and issue, though?

Human triggered climate change hasn't always been a reality and issue, no.
It only started being an issue after a couple decades of humans burning massive amounts of fossil fuels.

It's been known since the 60s - 70s that this is happening.
There's even leaked memo's from inside Exxon as early as the early 70s if I remember correctly - perhaps even sooner. The fact of the matter is that we (humans) have known about this for at least 50 years. Politicians and lobby groups and oil multinationals - the actual people who can actually do something about it - didn't (and still don't) care. All they care about is money and power. Oil gives them money and power. It's also destroying the world.

Isn't it interesting how it is being used now as a political and social tool?

Is it?

I heavily disagree. If it were a political tool, things would actually happen and change.
Instead, there's some talk and some BS but nothing at all is happening.
CO2 emissions are still rising and there is very little investments going on to turn it around. Or at least, not NEARLY enough is being done.

Draconian measures are necessary. And the longer they wait, the more draconian the measures have to be.

Did you see the word "understand"?

Who is to say that climate change isn't natural and always occurring?

Science.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas.

What do you think will happen if you practically DOUBLE the amount to CO2 in the atmosphere?

I trust in human ingenuity. Considering the crazy stuff scientists have pulled this past century, I have no doubt that given the proper motivation and funds, we can solve this too.

Step 1 would be massive short term damage control.
Step 2 would be the harder part of reversing the damage.

I've encountered a lot of seemingly crazy ideas that would be able to accomplish both. It can absolutely be done, no doubt about it. The problem however, is that it will take massive funds and effort.

And the longer we wait, the more massive the funds and effort required. There is a point of no return however, so the clock is ticking.

If you take an honest and objective look at how much money governments are throwing out the window....
For example, the US spends half a trillion dollars per year just on maintaining its nuclear arsenal of THOUSANDS of nukes with which it could destroy the entire world hundreds of times over.
What can you do with 8000 nukes that you can't do with 100 or even 50? And that's just for the maintenance of nukes!

They'ld be perfectly capable of dismantling 70% of them and freeing up 400 billion dollars per year as a result. And it wouldn't even make a dent in the military status of the US.

Put all that money into research and science programs and put it actual good use. Use it to plant massive amounts of trees, creating extra forrests. Put it into industry to turn dirty cars into cleaner cars.

There is so much we can do... There is no single thing that will solve it off course. It would have to be a combination of all kinds of things.

In a sense, it's some type of fairly simple terra forming. "fairly simple" in the sense that we already have a habitable planet that just needs a little tweaking. It's not like we start with barren land like on Mars or whatever.

Again, considering the absolutely crazy stuff scientists have pulled with only a fraction of such budgets, I have no doubt that we'ld be able to solve this.

I agree and it is a pretty horrendous example (s) of what happens when people depart from God's truth.
Yet His truth doesn't hold all life as equal and allows humans to slaughter animals yet He's loving? I'd don't understand that.

Thanks for your thoughts.
I fully agree that money and power appear to be the things most groups and multinational corporations care about.
What measures do you think would be helpful?

Did you realize that according to the scriptures, before sin entered the world animals were not slaughtered? From my perspective, it is a sad reality that it is the fault of human sin that animals suffer.

Since Adam was given dominion over the animals, his sin affected the animal world as well. We understand this principle all too well; when our government officials act wickedly, all of us suffer because we are under their authority. A straightforward reading of Scripture indicates that animal death is man’s fault.

What makes me think something can be done is found in the words of Mark 6:51; Mark 4:39
Jesus showed his coming power over weather phenomenon ( climate change )
Jesus' power will include the whole earth becoming beautiful and paradisical as written in Isaiah 35th chapter

To me it is the ' measure ' of praying for God's kingdom to come (thy kingdom come)
We are Not instructed to pray to be 'taken away' to the kingdom, Nor pray to be 'taken up' to the kingdom.
But we are to take the global measure of telling others about God's coming kingdom government of Daniel 2:44.
This is the government solution that Jesus instructed his followers to proclaim internationally - Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8

I wonder what would happen if ants, mosquitoes, flies and other bugs had everlasting life _____________
What if rats and mice, etc. never died but just kept multiplying____________

On the other hand, the time is coming when animals will not be harmed - Isaiah 35th chapter.
Also, even a small child will safely play with a poisonous snake unharmed - Isaiah 11:6-9
