It's a vagina.

Aside from the religion'history'language aspects, yes one can easily see this as a vagina.

You can stay indoors all you want. But you have locked yourself into an intellectual closet if you associate pornography with atheism...

Apart from the cross, the most ubiquitous symbol of Christianity is the ichthys, known to us as the Jesus Fish, and today it appears predominantly in its natural habitat -- car bumpers. The ichthys actually dates right back to ancient times, when Christianity was still an obscure sect, and considering that fish and fishing were frequently used as symbols in the Bible, you could argue that it's a more appropriate symbol for the teachings of Christ than the device used to torture and kill him.

It's a vagina.

One of the names given to the pre-Jesus Jesus Fish is the vesica pisces (vessel of the fish), and it was used as a symbol of every female fertility god ever, from Atargatis (the Syrian fertility goddess), Aphrodite/Venus (the goddess of love and sex) to the pagan Great Mother goddess, where it symbolized her life-giving vulva. Basically, whenever you encountered an image of fish in the pre-Christian world, it was probably an opposite-of-subtle metaphor for lady parts.
Along with the yoni and lingam symbols of Hinduism, which are obviously penis and vagina symbols. And in my religion, Thor's Hammer is also a phallic and fertility symbol.

The entrances of Gothic churches tend to resemble the vulva, too. It is strange.

Please give some examples of atheists trying to shut you down. Anyone can make comments. Can you support yours?
Why shouldi need to support my claim of Atheists try to stop my talk about religion it is easy enough to look in this forum where i get criticized a lot for having more strict rules then many others.

You don't need to support any claims and assertions you make. You can just continue to make unsupported and unsupportable assertions. Every time a person makes an assertion he/she cannot support, it just goes down in the books as one more person posting male bovine feces. Your reputation is in your own hands.

Since you don't understand the difference between "atheists trying to shut you down" and getting "criticized a lot", I suggest you leave RF and join a forum run by and for "Buddha Dhamma" followers.

There you can comfortably voice your comments about the evils of porn and alcohol and everyone will nod their bobbleheads in agreement.

Good. As long as you don't try to force your views on anyone else.

I'd be perfectly happy to have porn on .xxx domains. Now, exactly how do we define 'porn'? Is a woman in a bathing suit 'porn'? The OP seems to think so (if I am wrong, I apologize). If you go to Europe, it is fairly common to see bare breasts in advertisements. is that 'porn'? Or does 'porn' require the showing of genitals?

Or is it, like a Supreme Court justice once said 'I know it when I see it'?

How can a polymath not know, that which demolishes a child's life, should go to the .xxx domain?

How does seeing a naked body demolish a child's life? For that matter, how would seeing pictures or movies of sex do so?

Again, you don't know what destructive porn is? A child seeking a naked body could be in an art museum, a child watching #$^#@$%^ accompanied by denigration of women, spitting, slapping, cursing... you don't know how porn watching can destroy a child?!

Why do you assume all porn is degrading like this? if people are simply having sex, I don't see an issue. The problem in what you say here is the violence and denigration.

But I don't like the idea of children seeing violence and denigration in other contexts either. The problem isn't the naked bodies nor the sex. The problem is the violence and denigration. Right?

Obviously not all porn is like this.Playboy and Penthouse are not.I don't have an issue with soft porn such as Penthouse and Playboy.

I use to as a child raised up in the 70s between the age of 9 and 12 here disco songs for instance by KC and the Sunshine band that had sexually explicit lyrics in it.

I did not understand it at all I am not sure how the mind of a child would process a porn film though or pictures I don't know.

Absolutely not. At what age do you think children should watch people fornicate?!

The only issue I see is the privacy of the people fornicating. If a child sees it, let them know it is what people who love each other do and don't get bent out of shape about it.

If the adults respond intelligently, the child won't be harmed no matter what the age.

At what age do you think children should be told about incestual fornication?! Let's do teach the little ones about Adam and Eve and Cain and Able and how Cain found a wife...What?

Little Tommy: Where did Cain's wife come from?
Sunday School Teacher: Er, ahh, well, um, ask your mommy.

Technological advances in our modern times has allowed us to reach great feats. This 'computer age' as some have called it, has given us an unprecedented amount of convenience: computer and mechanical systems are able to do things for us in the fraction of the time it would otherwise take us to do. However, one of the main disadvantages of technology, specifically the internet, is the prevalence of pornography. All of us have been exposed to various elements of 'pornea'. Whether that's in advertisements such as what I can see on the religiousforums adverts, advertising dating sites with scantily clad women, at least when I'm using a shared computer. In Google Chrome I got messages saying things like 'Russian girls want to date in your area' with depictions of again, very immodestly 'dressed' women. Even on Youtube - a supposedly family friendly video upload site - contains gravure and sometimes pornography appears on that site. Youtube, as do many other sites like Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram have dark sides to them.

Thankfully, as a religious person I've been able to excise myself from the internet and television with Yahshua's help. I no longer have a tv or a broadband connection and this, though quite extreme, has helped me to focus on spirituality and observe what Yahshua said in the Beatitudes, to cut off whatever is a source of stumbling (Matthew 5:29-30). I still download Netflix shows at the library and then watch them when I get home so I do have some form of entertainment.

I'm writing this thread because I don't know what's going on in your private homes, but Yahweh is an El who sees in secret (Matthew 6:4, 2 Kings 17:9), therefore it's the secret sins that are often the worst rightly so because part of the conscience is telling the perpetrator that they are indeed shameful hence 'secret'. I'm curious to know how other people avoid the constant bombardment of sex and sexualised footage and images on the internet. I feel for those who are spiritually weak and don't have Yahshua to call upon. Acts 4:12 tells us that this name is the only name in which there is salvation because Yahshua means Yahweh is salvation. That was the Messiah's hebrew name. I suspect that those who are spiritually weak are going to have a big problem using the internet as they are opportunities to sin in so many avenues and with the simple click of a button.

Pornography is sexual immorality which is spoken against in many passages of scriptures such as 1 Thessalonians 4:3 and Matthew 5:28. What are your thoughts on pornography? Do you think the government should ban it, help people to overcome it or just leave things how they are?

Did you actually say Yahshua? As in, the Twelve Tribes figure? Sorry, but nope. No Twelve Tribes cult stuff in here. Jesus. Or Emmanuel. Having been stuck in one of those for three days while looking for work, and having real trauma about it, I can legit say gtfo with that stuff.

As for pornography, the idea is that it's a sort of sex idol. But you're probably doing so because you aren't even close to having met someone. And fixating on it is to give it importance it doesn't have. Too many things become addictions because we don't just say "It's just porn" so we struggle against them, attaching more importance. Enjoy your porn. But remember real ppl are your goal.

Are you committed to ensuring a child won't see it, to begin?

No, of course not. Why should we?

Sex is a natural part of being human. It is possible for a child to walk in on their parents and if the parents deal with it intelligently, there is no harm done. In fact, it might even be a good thing.
