Greetings everyone!

Yes it is me once again and as has happened in the past I was not terribly certain where to post this thread.

So I am completley at ease with the notion of moving it elsewhere if the appropriate authorities decide that is the wisest course of action.

Brain Pickings is a site I found a while back but only recently realised how much they have that interests me & anybody who has a brain like mine :)

Anyway - here is a taste of one of their many articles -

Build pockets of stillness into your life. Meditate. Go for walks. Ride your bike going nowhere in particular. There is a creative purpose to daydreaming, even to boredom. The best ideas come to us when we stop actively trying to coax the muse into manifesting and let the fragments of experience float around our unconscious mind in order to click into new combinations. Without this essential stage of unconscious processing, the entire flow of the creative process is broken.

Most important, sleep. Besides being the greatest creative aphrodisiac, sleep also affects our every waking moment, dictates our social rhythm, and even mediates our negative moods. Be as religious and disciplined about your sleep as you are about your work. We tend to wear our ability to get by on little sleep as some sort of badge of honor that validates our work ethic. But what it really is is a profound failure of self-respect and of priorities. What could possibly be more important than your health and your sanity, from which all else springs?

I've been doing this for over 50 years now as a matter of necessity for me. As much as I can talk, I have always had the necessity of "me time". At first my wife didn't understand this, but she gradually learned why this was so important to me. I blame it on the "Swede" in me.

I also separated my occupational work with my home life, never mixing the two. I would stay after work for hours to get my work done if needed, whereas when I went home I was done even thinking about work.

I live alone - mainly due to choice - I am fortunate that I really do enjoy my own company but I do have family who are an interesting bunch and I see them most weeks. They are all "loud" and I am the strong silent type who never has much of a problem if people choose to think & behave very differently from my own style.

Wishing you all the best in your browsing and in your solitude! Can be most enjoyable with the right mind-set - takes a while for some to get comfy in their own skin ...
