Are we wasting our lives?

This thread is in Science and Religion as it is about Truth and how each of us chooses to find, 'what is Truth'?

I seem to attract quite a few warnings for trying to convert people to my faith, even when I say repeatedly that I can not, do not have the ability to convert any person and do not want to convert any person.

My stance is that I acknowledge a higher power that gifts knowledge to any heart that power chooses to give knowledge to. My part is to share the knowledge given to my heart. The issue for me and me only, is to determine what is the gifted part and what is from my own self.

Thus the topic of the thread 'Are we wasting our lives'. To give it context from a faith side, it is said the entire purpose of our lives and of all knowledge is so that we can come to know and Love God. Our own choices and actions determine if we progress towards that goal, in this life.

The topic.

The apex of knowledge for both science and faith, is to know and Love God.

If this is not our goal, are we wasting this life?

If this is our goal, are our own actions wasting this life?

So again, this is about what is Truth?

The thread has no intent but to explore what is truth and my side of the debate is that Truth is all of God.

Nope. Science has nothing to do with mythology, so science is not about to love so something without evidence

Sciences mission is to learn truth through experiment and observation, not by saying 'i dont understand so god'

From what I have found, I see science is a gift from God so that in turn we can discover all that is of God.

I find it interesting that science can discard evidence beyond the senses as unscientific, or indeed put a label on it that it is not a way to truth.

The movie world is indeed a distraction

We can indeed consider if we choose to watch a movie or save the world! They are in my thoughts about wasting my life.

The apex of knowledge for both science... is to know and Love God.
This statement pre-supposes God... something that pure science does not do. I realize that some theistic scientists may do this, but even they would have to admit that the practice of "science" does not allow for the pre-supposition of God. So this would never be the "apex of knowledge" (whatever that is) for "science." This may be what YOU want to represent (or rather, misrepresent) as the "goal" of science, but that is for your own agenda and gratification. No one else but those doing this same purposeful misrepresentation are going to recognize science as having the goal to "know and love God." That's just falsehood... something you state or want to believe because you think it sounds nice, or makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Science has nothing to do with mythology.

If you can provide verifyable evidence of god then please present it. The fact that no one has ever done so over 10000 years ot so of god worship tells science a lot.

Truth : that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.

Given the very broad interpretive nature of your 'mandate', who is NOT seeking this goal?
If this is our goal, are our own actions wasting this life?
I don't really see how they could be.

I think "explore" is the wrong word to use, here. I would say it's more about being than it is about knowing. I think "God" is manifesting through 'creation'. And through us as part of that creation. Our purpose in not to 'figure it out', but to embody it, and to appreciate it. To "love" the being of it.

I guess so, or more like, the Only reason anyone ever has, or will have, for you to do any of your actions ever, is because of how openly hatefully harmful and vindictively active everyone is in just plastering their stereotypical hatreds over yourself and your life regardless if it fits in one degree anything or anybody at all. Nobody who ever volunteered talking to me is who wants to have happily forced my attendance in traps multiple times, then comes back, says do that on facebook or else.

1. No, God wants us to lead a virtuous life, if we live a virtuous life but don’t know God our life has not been wasted.

2. No, as a theist I feel that I have some perception of God in accordance with my own capacity which is all that it’s possible for one to have anyway.

3. Truth is reality, but one can only ever have a limited knowledge of all reality. God won’t judge us on the basis of what we don’t know, only on how we act based on what we do know.

From a faith side, it is said all knowlege reverts to God, the spiritual goal is given. I see knowledge takes us beyond the senses into the unknown. That unknown becomes a 'discovery', but it was always there.

That goal, I see, has gifted science so we can discover the realities hidden within this creation. I see a great scientist knows the goal and thus in pursuing science, will search for all these hidden realities mindful of the goal. I see that science needs that balance.

Science is yet to discover many truths, but they are there before they find them.

I do not have to provide evidence, I have to find it for myself. I can choose to share evidence I have found.

People got Korean Culture they spread far and wide by their own choices to gradeschools and stuff, looks like they prefer to professionally be teaching Korean just like the $200 they give to Tammy's for Federal Acquisition Regulations training, useless, but no nobody wants to do any of the stuff they do plus lets act like any evidence will ever exist anybody should ever listen or feel a singly sympathy about whatever vague words they want to mean to themselves. total waste of our lives right there totally exists. Hey, what do you have to share anyway, about never having a single proposition discernable to anyone about any self-willed thing on any topic, never meeting anyone personally, leaving assigned groups, or leaving campus, or suggesting things your family don't want? There's wasting your life again.
If people spoil their friends with pure private tutoring money who are people that rather not smell their little Asian apartment I prefer my parents do all the work , they'll do the homework.

I always had it pegged that the truth is what the universe actually is, not what we wanted it to be.

Science does a good job of that. Uncovering truth that is. Religion too if it doesn't embellish or fabricate experiences and observations for which the latter is most often times the case.

It's probably why religious beliefs and views can be so frustrating with people time to time.

They are all good valid points.

Reacting to what we do know is important. I see that can be neglected very easily, in both faith and science.

A faith example would to be aware of a law, know that it is important, but to dismiss it as not applicable.

A science example would be a person with virtues for life, go on to then create a device for destruction, knowing that one can not control how it will be used.

This is your interpretation of science, but not science itself. Science is agnostic as to the supernatural.

Cool, do you have any evidence for your side of the debate?

I am not here to change your reality. It is yours.

I can only say that I have found that reality is more than our material senses. Mind is not connected to body.

I love movies like avatar that explore the greater mind, the fight against our lower self for the higher collective goal of mind.
