Oh what are they complaining about? They don't know what "hot" is. Yesterday, my car thermometer said it was 113° - and no rain in sight. At least Atlanta is expected to get some rain this weekend.

When there's rain, you have no reason to complain...

Pfft 113° dry heat is nothing.

Try 95° with 60+% humidity!

If it is hot in Atlanta, they must be dying in Miami :p

Well at least they got a breeze usually coming in off the ocean. The ATL is too far inland to receive the cool ocean breeze. Like ole girl said, it's so hot we want to call the police on the sun!

When I was a kid, we had to walk 30 miles in the snow just to pay the heating bill.
That's all?
I had to walk 40 miles...each way....up hill both ways...thru
the snow....in the hot sun...95F with 95% humidity...with a hangnail.

Well, you sweat a lot more in high humidity. Your clothes can get soaked rather fast. I've spent some time in New Orleans and vicinity, so I know what it feels like.

On the other hand, a dry heat with a hot breeze outside makes you feel like you've walked into a clothes dryer.

And the humidity has elevated somewhat. We usually have a "monsoon" season (as they call it around here) in July and August, but the rainfall has been below average. They say that the same phenomenon which caused an unusually wet winter is what's causing our dryer-than-average summer.

Its horrible in Atlanta. Some 50 days above 95 and no rain in weeks. Miami may have a sea breeze.
Get further inland in Miami, & it gets nasty.
I once rigged an engine out of a building down there in July.
It was at the Gold Coast Railway Museum, in a concrete
building...what was left of an old airship hangar.
After 5 days, I was so wilted I was having trouble doing
basic math to design a frame to hold the crankshaft.
I measured the temp in the building....140F.

But a friend works in even hotter buildings...power plants.
He says that sometimes his shoe soles melt to the floor.

I know.. Been there, done that.. but I can't take the heat anymore. It makes me queasy.

I cope by drinking a lot, & taking electrolyte pills.
But the worst thing is having sweat drip off'm me brow onto me glasses.
I hate that!

I can relate. The building I work in is only made of concrete, rebar, cinder blocks, and bricks, and steel. So in summer it's an oven, in winter it's an ice box. In summer even late into the night when temps can drop to 60-70° outside the building still hold heat in it from the day, and it can be miserable.

The worst is sweat dripping down your back straight into the crack of yo ***!
