The "Summer Festival" in Baghdad is the first celebration of its kind in the city

"I love this type of music," said Layan, a 19-year-old woman in a leather black top and full makeup.

"I hear a lot of people say that we're influenced by the West. Fine, there's no difference to me -- the important thing is I don't have to listen to this music at home in secret anymore," she said, pumping her fist into the air.

Just a few years ago, the sound of staccato gunfire or the echo of car bombs was more common in Baghdad than the resounding bass of electronic music.

Beats replace bombs: young Iraqis revel at summer festival

...So much for ISIS.

It is sad to see that the West (USA) made Iraq into a western country with the filth from Western culture instead of the local culture. why must West force other part of the world to be "more like Us" ???

Motorcycles and music are filth in your opinion? You sound like a stubborn old man.

It is not only that, partying, Alcohol (in huge amount) music that is not from middle east, different clothes, a lot of this come from America

All evil in your opinion? Why not let people decide for themselves how they want to live their lives, lest we become accomplices in dictatorship.

Well America are on their way to try to be world dictators, so Congratulation on that

That makes no sense. We're a democracy, the opposite of dictatorship.

...America wants people to be free and decide for themselves how to live their lives... You seem to be suggesting that Iraqis should not have that freedom, but rather, should be forced into ancient traditions against their will.

I get what you're saying but cultural exchange is natural and normal. There's nothing wrong with people adapting aspects of other cultures. The Middle East has always been a cultural melting pot. That doesn't mean the local culture dies or whatever.

Have you herd of Donald Trump? He aint taking a no for an answer anymore, and if people dont want to do what he want, they become his enemy, just heard of when he when to a city and told that if the did not vote for him they would lose their jobs. That is how a dictator threatens people
