THE HUNT, new movie

I think there have been lots of studies in this area. And they seem to refute the idea that they cause people to act out violently. Not that I am opposed to more studies, there are probably studies going on right now.

My opinion is that violent games and movies are not a major factor in the current epidemic of gun violence in the U.S. If there is evidence to the contrary I will reconsider.

But right now I think this idea is being put forward as a distraction.
I think there seems to be a reactionary element in response to an argument that I do not think anyone is putting forward. The argument is that it is video games fault or some musicians fault.

Culture does impact our beliefs and actions. All video games and songs are a part of that culture. This is also true for news, books, public official and celebrities, religions, history, memes etc. If you deleted all traces of any one medium, while it would surely impact our culture, you would likely see the same problems because culture is multi-faceted.

I cannot imagine how anyone can refute the number of cultural issues we have. The problem with noting cultural problems is that culture is so broad. It also allows for blame and responsibility diffusion.

People can point at categories of "thems"and believe they are the problem. Beyond broad changes there really isn't much one can do with "culture." Think of the racism that was rampant in a more segregated America. There was certainly a cultural problem. One that we never fully addressed, i would argue. But what was the solution? One can only legislate so much. When you have huge numbers of people with no exposure to anyone with different ethnicities and religions and those ethnicities and religions are represented only in comical or stereotypical fashion throughout mass media (from target audiences of children to retirees) then how can you not see that culture begins to reflect and affect culture.

In many instances there was nothing the legislature could or should have done. We required a cultural shift. This does not mean that there is nothing for the legislatures to do. We integrated schools. passed the civilrights acts, attempted other strategies such as affirmative action, etc.

Many cultural problems exist. The way through these is not necessarily, or even likely, solely through legislation and judicial proceedings.

Then research it.
Goodness, you're demanding.
I have read some which indicate people becoming inured to violence.
Perhaps I'll post some.
Meanwhile, if you really want, you could find evidence that there's
no link between violence in entertainment & the real world.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I have been pretty unrelenting in my criticism of todayś society, and it´s major contribution to the violence we see today.

Here is a prime example.

In September a new movie, called THE HUNT will be released.

The premise is simple. Rich progressives legally hunt and murder Conservatives and Trump supporters.

From the clips I have seen, it is raw with violence.

It is supposedly a satire, and perhaps most viewers will understand that. However, I have no doubt that it will embolden some lefty ANTIFA types to more violence.

Violence and threats of violence have become part of the hardcore lefts playbook.

If you are a politician and disagree with them, you are fair game to harassment, or worse. Ask Steve Scalise.

I have not heard one prominent democrat criticize ANTIFA for their beating of a Conservative reporter in Portland. Portland, being a left wing city, allows ANTIFA to run wild. The police watched as a mob beat and seriously injured this man, and no arrests have ever been made.

The hunt is the ultimate lefty dream, as our society becomes more debased. I think we are about circling the drain now, how long before we go down ?
The Socialists can't even think of an original movie plot without plagiarizing.

Maybe they should ask Kimmy in North Korea for some ideas.

I am not demanding, I am suggesting. :)

But what I would like to see are studies done on the prevalence of guns and the psychological impact.

I believe that just owning a gun has a profound impact on how a person views the world, and the more powerful the gun the more powerful that psychological impact. And I believe that psychological impact is drastically more significant than the impact of a game, or a movie.

I have no evidence to back that up, because the studies have not been done. But there is a saying that when you are carrying a hammer everything looks like a nail. So what must the world look like to someone carrying a “hammer” designed to kill people.

I also think there is a psychological impact of just hearing news reports of mass shootings. I think that is having an impact. I would like to see that studied more.

You were saying that violent media should perhaps be cen sored because it encourages violence. Anyway, I'm pretty much done with this discussion because I'm already aware of what the studies say.
No i wasn't. In fact, i specifically said that I did not think censorship was the way to handle it

I picked the most lefty source out of many, just for you. Now, how do you like your crow cooked. Why do you think the pulled the movie ? cause Trump doesn´t like it ? No. The pulled it because the content is exactly as it has been described by many.

Poof goes your idiot conspiracy theory.

How hard can it be to copy/paste a URL? Do you actually type them out manually? :D

Trump Freaks Out Over ‘The Hunt,’ a Satirical Film He Doesn’t Understand, as U.S. Reels From Mass Shootings

President Trump took time out of his busy Friday to highlight yet another personal grievance: an upcoming “Racist” movie from “Liberal Hollywood,” the satirical point of which the president couldn’t understand or seemingly didn’t care to grasp...

The satirical premise of the film appeared to turn on lampooning well-off, angry liberals, portraying them as villainous psychos and the abducted right-wingers as victims in a horror scenario.

The nuance seemed lost on the president, whose annoyance at the picture had been brewing for days.

This is why it is important to actually watch things before flying off the handle about them.

How you imagine one would feel differs from my experience.
Avoiding conflict is paramount because I wouldn't want it to
escalate to violence....more so than not carrying.
What I am saying is that I would like to see scientific studies done on this issue. Just comparing you to me might not be representative.

But I can tell you that physical violence is just not part of my toolkit, literally or figuratively. In a physical confrontation I would most likely get my *** kicked. That is a pretty good reason not to escalate.

I understand.
We're both advocating more research & consideration.
But your experience is to have no experience in the matter.
So it's best not to tell others how they feel.
