It's still 1400 for them in their calendar; remember what Christian countries were like in 1400?

My apologies for insulting you. I do know some Muslims, both Sunni and Shia from the Middle East, that are very nice. I live in a College Town, in Portland, Oregon and one of the Universities has a large Muslim population. I see all sorts from those who are friendly and helpful to those who.... Yes, well. I should not generalize. Again I apologize. May Allah SWT forgive me. Ma Salama Khadijah
I get the impression that Indonesian Muslims are very strict. Do they still execute and beat their convicts? And if so, what for?
Hi Badger.
The death penalty is prescribed for premeditated murder; and for the following crimes (where death is the result):
Aggravated gang-robbery; ‘extortion’ with force; piracy, hijackings or violence against persons aboard vessels or aircraft; treason; ‘creating a widespread atmosphere of terror’ (by taking life); and genocide (as defined by the Genocide Convention).
The death penalty is also prescribed for:
Crimes against humanity – including enslavement, torture, rape, the forcible transfer of citizens, false imprisonment or other severe deprivations of physical liberty; for persecution, ‘enforced disappearance’ and apartheid; for drug related crimes, including the involvement of children in the production, trafficking or use of narcotics; and for the use, production, possession or trafficking of psychotropic drugs – when this is done as part of ‘organized crime’.
The development, production, acquisition, transfer or use of chemical weapons; the intentional breach of confidentiality by officers of the National Atomic Energy, the atomic installation and other organisations involved the use of atomic energy; and certain acts of corruption harmful to the economy of the State also carry the death penalty.
The end of 2018 saw at least three hundred and eight people on death row (including at least seven women).
Since 2007, there have been thirty-four executions; the most recent in 2016; involving three Nigerian and one Indonesian man (all for drug-related crimes).
The following are excluded from the death penalty:
Persons below the age of 18 at the time of the offence; pregnant women (but only until 40 days after delivery); and the mentally disabled, provided that their disabilities are proven to ‘cause’ their criminal behaviour.

I have no data on the beating of convicts.
Have a great day, and very best regards.
Thankyou for your trouble and care, Niblo.
