I went to Friends meeting with a Buddhist. He was nice enough but he avoided hymn singing. Maybe he was tone deaf and couldn't sing.
I know some Buddhists will refrain from singing altogether, but if we get invited to visit other religious houses and take part in their service, nothing stop us from doing it :) even to join in prayer is not seen as wrong. But maybe we will politely say no to parts of it. i think it depend on each Buddhist you meet

But what the Jehovah's Witnesses teach is that God wants us to listen to the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses. @oldbadger you seem to see no problem with that.

I believe we have conversed many times and I didn't know you were an X JW. The ones I have talked to previous ly were pretty much turned off by religion because of it but I would be surprised if you didn't retain some of the teaching. It is brainwashing after all.

I used to turn them away like everyone else......'kooks', I thought....but one day, thinking I could trip them up with a really curly question....I was surprised that they gave me a really good answer from the Bible.....I asked more questions and got more good answers for them too.

After a few more visits, I agreed to a Bible study because these people were nothing like I had been told.....I loved it! And I studied my own Bible. I never knew what was in that book until I did that......now I am one of those annoying people who knock on your door to tell you something wonderful about the future....the good news about God's Kingdom. :) Just once, why don't you listen.....I'm glad I did.

I believe it is too bad you weren't a Christian, you would have known better. I studied with them until they abandoned me but after each session the Holy Spirit would say "That isn't right" and I would have to study my Bible some more to find out why it wasn't right. It did get me started studying the Bible though.

I do not follow JW as you know, but I find it interesting to talk with them, the reason I asked you questions of why you were rude toward them was not to insult you it is to learn why some people can not talk about a topic like religion, even they do not believe in it
I can talk *about* the Jehovah's Witnesses - or any other religion - without insulting anyone.

I would think that you would understand my point of view: you disagree with me and you're trying to change my mind. It's the same for me and groups like the JWs, only the stakes are much higher.

Don't you have principles you think are worth defending when they're attacked? Personally, I think "don't kill kids" and "don't protect rapists" are worth defending.

I believe we have many people from other faiths visit our church not because they want to but because it is their job. Sometimes a few will sit in their cars instead of entering the church but maybe that is because my Pastor likes to debate them.

I focus on the good they have to tell about their God and if they broke the law of their God, they should take it with him. I don't know of any JW I met who been accused of raping someone.
Do defend their right to be religious, yes I do, do I agree with everything they say or do?. no, I don't, but that does not mean i need to treat them badly.

Skanky Old Mongrel!
Luke 18:19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
Yeah.....
Christians quote what Jesus said to me, but they never quote the real bottom line, such as:-
Luke 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these
things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all
that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt
have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

Well? Is your faith all talk or do you live it?

Your Pastor sounds like a nice person :) Many Pastors, Priests, Imams, are very nice to discuss with:)

As I have stated before, I have a particular antipathy to those of the evil JW cult, after being told by a couple of their acolytes that our adopted baby Down's Syndrome son would have been better off dead than having the blood transfusion, which saved his life in 1986!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I believe that isn't evil but just a foolish belief. Glad to hear your baby made it to you alive.

Is everybody inhospitable and rude in your town?

Nope. A young mother of four dropped in the ER for an emergency delivery (with no prenatal care) began to bleed out. Her husband didn't want her transfused. We did it anyway. Within 30 minutes a JW lawyer from 300 miles away called threatening a lawsuit. Her death would have left 5 orphans and ruined my young OB/GYN's career.

They came to my house for three days running at 7 AM. You bet I told them to get off my property.

I believe he is but he can be quite emphatic about his beliefs. I do agree with the JW's teaching that one shouldn't get angry with another person simply because he believes something different. I used to get my JW brother-in-law riled up pretty bad but the truth hurts.
