Question mostly to Atheists (not a mocking)

Spirit of Light

I have noticed that many (not all) Atheists mocking or harras the believers of any religion/ spiritual path.
But also some of the Atheists are well versed in the religious text. So my question is.

Why do you "as an Atheist", take your time to read especially the bible, then when you know a little, you go about making sick critique and wrong claims about the religion you do not believe in? Do you find it fun to mock those who believe what you do not believe in? What is your purpose to try to drag down the religions?

In general, atheists and agnostics tend to know more about the bible and Christianity than Christians do.

Religions have historically persecuted the non-religious, to the point of murdering them and/or torturing them for their audacity to speak out against them.
As for choosing the Christian Bible amongst various religious texts.....it is likely that a person, educated enough to be agnostic/atheist and free enough to speak out on the subject without fear of punishment is in a country of many religions or at least one that is predominantly Christian....simply speaking sociologically/geopolitically in this period of human development.

Why mock? If you see a child repeatedly stabbing a pencil into his own leg, on the assumption that it will make him both smarter and a better runner....yet you cannot take the pencil from him......would you not try to stop his nonsense none-the-less?
There are clear logical fallacies within the Bible that make it obvious as not a divine work, but rather a gathering of odd tales told and written by men. There are commands to be horrendously cruel to other people (often glossed over by church and preachers), yet are presented in the religious text as God’s word. Would you not stop followers from enacting those horrors? Should you not stop followers from enacting those horrors?
You cannot imprison them all. And any discussion with them is usually met with disbelief and anger. Little is left except humor and mockery, so as to show them the obvious errors of their beliefs.

Because some religious beliefs cause folks to act out violently, dehumanize non-believers, cause personal stress and mental illness. Having myself gotten out from under those problems, I'm hoping my experiences might help others find similar relief.

May it be that it is not the Religion in itself that is the problem but misunderstandings of the teaching of the different human beings who should be following it a righteous way? So it is a human error and not a religious error?

I criticize religions when they try to interfere with the rest of us. It's a response to bad behavior.
A part of many religions is to spread it, but yes, many religious people are to aggressive in their way of spreading the truth, that i agree to

Which is why it is important to understand what is taught by the texts and not just the claims of the believers themselves.

I've seen atheists bring out passages of what is written to criticize. And, if an atheist can point out where the believer's claims don't match what is written, it's to the benefit of the believer in any case.

Yes in this agree I do not say atheists should not make comments on religion but what i do react to is the way some, (not all) atheists say a lot of evil about religion they do not believe in. I the last few days there have been new members who have gone so far, and been so rude that one can wonder if they hold any respect to other human beings

I don't think that I do. But if I do, I should probably be told when and how it happens and why it is wrong.

Do you find it fun to mock those who believe what you do not believe in?

Sometimes. Other times, under the proper circunstances, I find it a courtesy. Ridicule can be a powerful motivator for questioning.

But I tend to prefer to warn and point out flaws without resorting to ridicule. Or so I would like to believe, anyway.

What is your purpose to try to drag down the religions?

I have no such purpose. I value religions very much. Far too much to stand aside silent while they are destroyed by theism and superstition unleashed, or by simple dogma without proper balance.

You are one of the many atheists here in this forum i respect a lot, You are well-spoken even when you disagree with what a religion teaches or a religious person say.

What "sick critiques" and "wrong claims" are you talking about? Perhaps you're quite mistaken about their critiques and claims. Or isn't that possible?

Ok, one IMO should be respectful of people, maybe I fail at that sometimes but I try, and still not be respectful of their beliefs.

IOW, I'll respect someone as a fellow human being, but not necessarily respect their beliefs. I don't particularly expect anyone to respect my beliefs either.

Sometimes i can misunderstand that i clear, But when an atheists call a God or Buddha for evil, or use names about them, or wanting to change the teaching because it does not suit them, this is what i talk about. The teaching is made as it is of a reason it is to shave off all the evil doings we human beings do. and to change our action thoughts and speech to become pure and true But when some atheists speak evil about why God or Buddha said or did as they do, the it become silly, We humans can not judge a God because we are not near their understanding of the truth

So just what evil are atheists speaking of? Give us examples of these "sick critiques," "wrong claims," and evil you are talking about. I ask because I can't remember ever seeing any.

If you followed the different threads the last few days you would see a new member saying so much evil about Christianity and Islam.
And a big topic against Christianity and maybe other religions are the view of Homosexuality, There is a perfect reason why religions teach what they do, But many (not all) Atheists seem to think it is evil of the religion to have this teaching that has been there for many thousands of years.
A God or Buddha has a clear reason to why something like Homosexuality is looked at as a sin or morally negative action But many Atheists get angry, But what they do not think of is the Christian God made those rules for Christian people, not for the atheists.

Atheists i not in the count of what God look at, because why would He care for someone who do not belive in him? or want to follow the teaching given to enter heaven

The fact that harmful teachings are old doesn't make them good. Anti-LGBTQ religious doctrines kill people, especially young people.

Many atheists were raised Christian; some were even pastors so of course the know the Bible. Many studied the Bible extensively, which is why they aren't Christians any more.

That is not the teachigs fault, that is a human error where the religious person has not understood that killing of harming Gay people are of course wrong and a huge sin

My guess is that the atheist doesn't think the perfect reason for regarding homosexual sex as a sin is so perfect at all. In fact, just what is god's stated reason for considering homosexual sex a detestable act and an abomination? Personally, I don't recall reading any.

So there's is a clear reason god regards homosexuality a sin. What is it?

Which I believe the atheist would think is just fine as long as Christians didn't try to impose some of these rules on our secular society. BUT THEY DO.

For those who follow the Christian teaching the situation is like this
God said he created man and woman so they could procreate and populate the earth, but two men or two women can not procreate
It is not a direct sin to be homosexual, it is the act of it that i seen a sin, specially in Christianity.
To follow Gods teaching one can not then act out the homosexual act but if one chose not to follow the teaching God will leave you alone and not look your way
