Jesus Encouraged Drunkenness

I agree with much of what the OP is saying.

Alcoholism is an epidemic. It always has been. It's entirely too easy to form an addiction.

And, I don't think it a coincidence that Jesus acknowledged the common perception that he was a glutton and a drunkard. These people saw something- something recurring. People don't just apply these labels to any and everyone. There was some credence.

The Son of Man, i.e. mankind, is indeed eating and drinking. And we have a problem worldwide, with gluttony and alcoholism, that needs a solution. Unfortunately, Jesus left many stumbling blocks- even strengthening some.
However, the OP is stating Jesus encouraged drunkenness. Which is a lie.
This is just another one or maybe the same one, that posts threads insulting the faith, or Christ, or God, or the faithful.
They throw a barb and then they wait to watch people respond. That's their addiction.

Turn away from your false allegiance to the JW. Donate your New World Translation bible to a book drive or library and find Christ. You're still alive and that means there's still time to be saved.

JW New World Translation Bible Errors List - Doctrines of Faith

Editing to add, the followers of Jesus will not answer for their choices. They are redeemed through the blood of the lamb as God's chosen before the world came to exist. Names written in the Lamb's Book of Life for all eternity. God knew who would follow his son. That is why his son said, no one comes to him unless the father calls them. John 6:44

You should be aware that the false teachers , the founder of the JW, and all false one's , will answer to a stricter judgment for their misdeeds in the name of the Father.
James 3:1-12

There are only 2 different translations in reality--The religion that came out of Romes translating. And JW translating. When the protestants translated, NO originals remained. The translating of Catholicism remained. They read catholicisms own bible and it exposed them as false. Yet those using those translations refuse to believe they translated misleading errors in. They have been proven errors. The teachings of Jesus prove their in error. You are not taught what Jesus actually taught. I share 7 super important teachings of his found in every translation on earth but every trinitarian rejects those teachings when I show them, because it exposes their religion as not belonging to Jesus because they DO NOT teach what he actually teaches. I see you are lost to the darkness as well.

The autographs aren't available to us, that is correct. However, the Roman canon that existed first being the mother text of the later Protestant would mean the JW's borrowed from that source. Because the JW's do not have the autographs.

You would do well to read the link I shared prior.

Matt 11:19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.

It looks to me like Jesus is saying His actions are wise.

Prov 23:20 Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat,

I believe then if Jesus is being wise then He is denying the accusation.

Yes, much of the translating remained intact. But a few minor changes to fit false council teachings occurred. It was kept in latin for over 1000 years after the councils were held. No one but clergy were allowed to read the bible. If men tried to translate it, were burned alive for heresy. Once men were allowed to read it, Catholicism translated from latin to greek. Subtle changes to make it look like Jesus is God, but he is not. Even their own greek text proves a capitol G GOD in the last line of John 1:1 = error. Worship to a mortal Jesus = error. Trinity translations teach 2 different gods because of errors. Of course that side says the JW,s are in error. The teachings of Jesus prove the JW teachers correct.

Not at all. However, you're not likely to take someone's word for that when this is a discussion forum on the Net.

Perhaps I would've gotten along pretty well with Jesus. Apparently he knew how to party.

Most Christians seem to believe that drinking alcohol to the point of drunkenness is a sin. Yet, apparently, Jesus fully endorsed drunkenness, as we can see in John 2:9-11:

and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

Clearly, Jesus' first miracle was getting people (who were already plastered) even more inebriated. No wonder they all believed in his "glory!"

The Bible also clearly states that Jesus was a social drinker and that people viewed Jesus as a glutton and a drunkard. See Luke 7:34

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.'

So, why do Christians so often assume that drinking alcohol is a sin? If they actually paid attention to what the guy they supposedly follow did, they would fully support drinking to drunkenness. After all, Jesus' first miracle was creating wine to give to people who were already drunk. Thus, a true Christian would not view drunkenness as a sin, and on the contrary, would encourage it.

The water was turned into what we would now know as grape juice today. Their could not be alcohol in it for this very reason. The Greek word used for wine is a generic term that can be applied to any type of grape drink. Considering the context, of the situation, it could not be the case that this was alcohol. This was a strict Jewish society and under the Law of Moses, alcohol was forbidden. Did Jesus get a whole crow drunk? Nah, not the case... if it is the case, we have an obvious contradiction between Jesus's life and teachings.

There is no better source than truth, than the teachings of Jesus. He exposes 99% of all religions claiming to be Christian as false religions. They don't know what he actually teaches. They do not teach what he actually teaches.

I won't belabor this point further. JW is a cult and its bible has been proven to be errant. Don't believe me. In the end of life God is merciful. I pray God is merciful to you.
Peace.

It is the Puritan Sects of Christianity that have a problem with alcohol, which are fairly modern. I agree with you that there is absolutely no basis for the idea that drinking alcohol is sinful.

The scriptures do speak against being a drunkard, and to restrict yourself so that you don't subsequently commit debaucheries. But one can fully enjoy alcohol without getting black out drunk. Indeed, while I drank my fair share in college - I've never blacked out or lost control. Now a days I hardly drink at all, though I do enjoy getting a nice buzz going occasionally.
