They are also in Christianity, Judaism, Hindu and probably a few more.
No Hindu family ritual can be performed without one's wife sitting on his left and participating equally. The participate whole-heartedly in temple pujas also.

I'm not sure what you are asking. They are also in Christianity, Judaism, Hindu and probably a few more. Women are not usually given much respect in religious scriptures.
Umm, excuse me, but I have never been asked to separate from men in Temple. We often break bread (so to speak) with men after congregation. I agree that there's some sexist nonsense in Hinduism, which I wholeheartedly reject as old age stupidness. But there are entire sects devoted to literally worshiping the feminine in Hinduism. Though I can see why some sects would not be welcomed in feminism. Religion is kind of misogynist and that is unfortunate. But not all religions segregate the sexes, even those with some err "questionable" aspects.

Thank you. I have seen documentaries and read religious literature where women not allowed in certain religious buildings or have to be behind men or are told that they should just be quiet and let men speak or should do what men tell them to do. I'm sure that it isn't all religious beliefs but it does exist.

There are certain segregations in certain spheres in most religions. Which I lament and largely reject as man made nonsense. There are also weird traditions regarding menstruating women.

Muslim Women Debate Gender Segregation In Mosques

The Jewish scriptures are the Old Testament to Christians. I have not found gender bias in the Old Testament. It is only in the New Testament. I wonder why that changed?
Equality, Religion and Gender in Israel | Jewish Women's Archive
"Israel’s Declaration of Independence was one of the earliest constitutional documents in the world to include sex as a group classification within a guarantee of equality in social and political rights. "
I applaud the Jewish faith.

I think gender bias happens after coming of foreign invaders for protection of women who are targetted. In case of Israel, Egyptians, Sumerians, Greeks and Romans; in case of Indians Persians, Scythians and Muslims.
Israel and India became independent only recently, i.e., after coming of the new age, and women have participated in elections right from the beginning. The current Indian parliament has the highest ever number of female representatives, 78 out of 545 (14.3%).
Please see my post to SomeRandom.
That is true. There are religious restrictions on women during the periods. But the Indian Courts have given complete equality to women.

I'm glad to hear that India treats women fairly. I see blatant discrimination in the United States.

Can gender segeragation related laws and rules be derived from the Qur'an alone?

Gender segregation cannot be derived from the Quran. Very vague and powdered up interpretations maybe there based on some loose verses but they are mostly as I said "powdered up".

I am interested in what these verses are in any case, and the logic behind them.

I got that, but

Oh. You mean what kind of verses some people use to propagate there is some kind of gender segregation in the Quran!!

Some people quote the Quran 24:30 and 31.

"It tells men to lower their gaze which means they are not supposed to look at women. Women are supposed to lower their gaze, protect their chastity and not reveal their beauty to men. So in other words, it seems to tell you to basically keep women and men separately. "

Thats one absurd assessment.

And Quran also tells the prophets wives to speak to men from behind a barrier. Which means as exemplary women in Islam you are supposed to separate yourselves from men with a barrier.

Another absurd assessment.

Cheers.

We beleive that Quran and Hadeeth are from Allah the Almighty Creator. It's obligatory to Moslems. If I'm Moslem I should accept it all.
The western values and measures are being used are just human creation.
The Problem is there is no absolute definition of these terms. It's keep changing. If we study the time line of "gender segeragation" in West in the last 100 years, you'll find this term has changed several times. What is we look at timeline of the definition for 1000 years, what about 2000 years?
How the definition will be after 20 years from today, what about 100 years, 1000 years.
Islam laws are absolute, not changeable.

Yes it's obligatory to segregate in Islam. But life needs interaction between women and men, so it should be politely.
Yes, geze to women is Haram and vice versa.
The benefits of the segregation is useful, there are some studies that recommends segeragation even in West in high schools.

We moslems don't feel shame of this Sharea law, we don't have to comply with western values which is a changing objective by the way.
