What Irks You Most About Threads Intended to Pit People Against Each Other?

No, I'm not triggered, but I know a few have been in these threads.

What Irks You Most About Theists And Deists?
What Irks You Most About Atheists, Agnostics, And Non-Believers?

While I'm guilty of light participation in both, I answered both essentially the same way in each, and any further participation was strictly for the lulz.

While I read and participate in threads here primarily for the learning experience, the only thing I learned from either thread is that all forms of primates are prone to throw feces at each others.

What, if anything, did you take away from either thread?

I think they are intended to stir up controversy and conflict.
I mean if I were to create a thread "What irks you the most about Native Americans" or "What irks you the most about Italians", you would probably see right through that

I like bloody knuckled brawls on the internet.
Ya know,
Us decent people versus the evil ones. Evil people like religionists, feminists, abortionists, racists, capitalists, zionists, Trumpists, creationists, homophobes, warmongers, and burglars.

What's wrong with being a decent person willing to fight for what's right, from my comfy recliner?

So, in effect you're admitting what motivates you to create threads designed to pit people against one another is so as to watch the feces hit the fan.
What mentality does such a primate have that would find satisfaction in that do you think, Scott? (willow fire)

Someone (A Roman Catholic I think) mentioned that people calling themselves atheists online often didn't actually understand religious education yet continually griped about it.

I didn't post, but I don't think Roman Catholics understand what most church people experience. They are in their own world. Roman Catholics go through some various layers of education, and it seems a bit secretive. Most protestants don't and say exactly what they think, and they are usually the ones who, if they become atheists, will gripe the most loudly. I've not seen a lot of ex-Catholic athiests talking that way.

The only one (RC turned athiest) I knew tried to explain to me that there can be facets to subjects that we can't all see, much like a reformed Jew tried to explain to me once. Did I listen? No, because I couldn't at that time.

So I guess the threads reminded me of that difference, somewhat highlighting that children and adults understand differently or ought to.

So negativity and divisiveness doesn't bother you?
Why do you think Threads Intended to Pit People Against Each Other are necessarily negative. Each side can make positive posts supporting their argument, can't they?

But, if I wanted to have discussions with people who agree with me and I with them, I could join a knitting circle. That doesn't much to keep the neurons popping.

Also, quite often, I learn something I didn't know before. That can come from people posting on either side of an argument.

I created at thread that pits people against threads like that. I don't pit people against people. I created no such thread.

Okay, well I did create one to pit people against me. :D

Nothing if it's a debate, that's what it's there for.

See those links in your post #1 . The pronoun, "you" , is your address to the forum members who may choose to read the invitation in the subject line of those two linked threads in post #1.
You are asking us to answer your two questions designed to produce emotions. Argumentum ad passiones. And conflict.
But, you know this.
