I look forward to the imminent ad hoc special pleading from the Usual Suspects and assorted Trumpettes as they explain how Trump's draft dodging cowardice is actually martial valour, and how the fact none of his family have ever served a day's military service actually gives him more insight into the struggles in the lives of soldiers and their families, and how gutting various services veterans rely on actually helps them, etc. What a time to be alive.

WWMRD?
A particularly low effort handwave, even for you.

Look at the OP, a very short biased buzz word heavy article filled with accusations and a former politician that most people probably never heard about demanding an x-ray. Pretty thin gruel, it's like looking for some nuggets of corn in a turd, thankfully this turd was a small one.

Well, at least I can say with a clear conscience that I tried to serve, having attempted to enlist in the Navy at age 19 - even when the draft was over for many years. They turned me down for medical reasons.

This draft dodger finds all the fawning worship of soldiering to be absurd. They say that my kind isn’t found in foxholes. Tis a sign of intelligence.

I won't tell individuals they need to serve, but I do have to have an opinion on the US soldiers entering battle, and sometimes I'm for it... Even though I've never fought myself.

Many have little choice to begin with. Born into areas where there are no jobs, and the only way to try and survive and support a family is through the only option available... military. And then there are those born into military families and are molded that way or pressured into keeping the ‘family tradition.’

For this place, and zoo... I do understand why at times it can be required. I also can understand the wisdom in having military to keep the home land safe while needing little to no presence elsewhere. If everyone had proper integrity and morale, there would never be a need for such, yet that is not the reality here.

Would you take the place of a soldier going overseas and into combat, if you had their same talents and training?

I personally would try to avoid a draft too. For me, being a coward is being a puppet pawn and following the commands from up above. Being brave would be to put my arms down and refuse, and tell the government of the country to go fight.
Problem is that HIGHLY EVIL people tell us where and when to fight.
