Four year old Australian boy claims to be the reincarnation of Princess Diana...

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
How could this even be news?

A lot of kids that age fantasy role-play.

Ah... father is a television news anchor. That explains a lot.

Hinduism and Buddhism do teach about reincarnation and rebirth.

The child also remembers minute details as well, as shown by the articles. It is possible that the kid is a reincarnation.

Australia is also a Christian nation, with christianity at odds with the teaching of reincarnation. So this makes it odder and remarkable. The early Christian theologian Origen was criticized and excommunicated for his teachings on reincarnation in the Second Council of Constantinople.

Only admired people are reincarnated.
No one ever claims to be Hitler’s spirit.

I read about this case elsewhere and do give it a strong 'maybe'.

In general, I believe the phenomena of some children remembering a past life is real. This 'echo memories' typically fade as they get more involved in their new life. I've seen cases where knowledge of factual trivial details seems inexplicable from the fantasy theory.

Funny how some stories make you want to cross-examine the witnesses, no?

And the reporter, come to think of it.

Usually very young, just as they're learning language. Language must help (some would say hinder) in developing the new persona. My son described accurately where he and I left off in his previous lifetime.

I'm suspicious (but certainly don't discount the possibility) when it comes past lives being famous people.

But to me, it doesn't matter, it's just trivia. One should pay heed to this lifetime, not those of the past, just as carrying memories (baggage) in this lifetime does little good.

Fictional characters reincarnate now, do they?
Is there much of a difference between claiming to be a fictional character incarnate - and knowing exacting details of that character's stories and "life" and claiming to be a famous person reincarnated - and knowing exacting details of that person's stories and life? I think that's probably more the point that was being made.

The details may be trivia but this phenomena sheds light on something that is not trivial; the process of our life and soul development. It argues we are continually growing souls and more than a quick one life and annihilation. This view renders life as something more marvelous and richer than the competing theory..

While I'm privy for rebirth, I don't think memories upon death are retained in any shape or fashion. A five-year-old can pick up things quite a bit in 5 years. It's just roleplay with obviously , a fascination for Princess Diana.

It would be funny if it were true, and I don’t discount the possibility either, even if a very low probability. Or that since I are almost every other human being that came into existence would never recall or be able to recall, that there couldn’t be one here and there that are temporarily able to.

That wouldn’t mean anyone has to believe it, or not be skeptical. Humans are wonderful deceivers and liars.

My nephew insists he is from Neptune, I just laugh and think it would be sweet and hilarious if he actually was. While wondering why he’d actually want to come to earth lol.

Ever notice how these reincarnation stories are always of famous people? Anyone ever claim to be the reincarnation of some peasant who got died of typhus in the 11th century?

Reminds me of similar stories of children who allegedly saw the Christian heaven and then told people about it - very popular in Evangelical circles several years back. Or stories of Catholic children who allegedly saw apparitions of the Virgin Mary, as at Fatima or Medjugorje. Nothing to write home about, honestly.

But it doesn't shed light for me, George. It may shed light for others, but it's been a core belief of mine for a very long time. I just take it for granted now. Normal stuff. So personally, it's just ... So? I have no need whatsoever to convince anyone, or argue it.
