Shravana, the monnth of Shiva

Aupmanyav

Be your own guru
Began from the full moon day. Millions of Hindus start on pilgrims' walk hundreds of miles to Haridwar and Baidyanath, also at many other places (I think), bringing water from holy rivers to offer to Shiva lingams (Kawar Yatra).

It is a big exercise for the government. Maintaining traffic on National Highways, avoiding Hindu-Muslim conflicts at places, maintaining security of pilgrims (at one time it was a male affair, now women also join. In such huge numbers, I never realized :surprised:). Free food and staying arrangement provided by Hindu society all along the way.

Baidyanath temple in Deoghar (House of the Lord), the other connected by strings to the main temple is Mother Parvati's temple. :D
Shiva is a monogamist.

As much as I would love to someday be part of that, or any festival, my social anxiety and claustrophobia would tax the ability of the world's pharmaceuticals to manufacture enough xanax or valium.

And yes, it is beautiful and colorful. I can imagine the energy. :)
