Boy, 5, who doesn't want to be circumcised hides on roof in heartbreaking photo

Boy, 5, who doesn't want to be circumcised hides on roof in heartbreaking picture - The boy, from Indonesia, spent a whole two hours on the roof to save the most sensitive part of his body from circumcision

.. but failed to save himself from this silly procedure.

RIP little foreskin. :scissors:

I thought boys were circumcised as infants. Why would they wait until he is 5 to circumcise him?

The important bit would be without it - abrasion from dragging on the ground and such (in other animals I might add - not bragging ). I'm sure some nice person could sew you one on to make you whole again. :p

Edited for clarity.

That's usually how it is done. I've attended many an in-hospital procedure. The baby screams like no cry I've heard before or since. While the doctor performing the procedure would always claim they're not screaming because of the pain. They're screaming because they can't move because they're strapped to the immobilizer board.
When I would ask each new doctor, why don't you use a topical numbing agent so the baby doesn't suffer so much, their pat answer every time was, by the time the agent took effect the procedure would be over without the agent.
Time is $. :(
It looks like one is coring an apple. But the baby doesn't scream because of the pain. Nonsense.

Not necessarily, circumcision can be performed at any time for various reasons. Adults too.

A friends son was having difficulty urinating. Turns out his foreskin was too tight and as he grew it became more difficult. He was circumcised age 8

Perhaps it's a bit early to assume the youngster climate-change lobby will turn their attention to things like this just yet. Might happen though.

Never understood why something with proven health benefits is maligned just because of it's link to religion

A decreased risk of urinary tract infections.

A reduced risk of some sexually transmitted diseases in men.

Protection against penile cancer and a reduced risk of cervical cancer in female sex partners.

Prevention of balanitis (inflammation of the glans) and balanoposthitis (inflammation of the glans and foreskin).

Prevention of phimosis (the inability to retract the foreskin) and paraphimosis (the inability to return the foreskin to its original location).

I suspect if the kid hid from vaccination you wouldn't be arguing his body his choice

Not so popular in Europe. Are they all misguided, or is it perhaps the religious influence in the USA, or something else, that has made it so popular there.

Some cultures circumcise later. Because the op said this is Indonesia, i would assume the boy is muslim. That is one of the cultures that circumcise later. Some african cultures circumcise even later as a rite of passage to manhood.

As was also noted, some people develop medical conditions and require circumcision.

Tom Rosenthal (an actor and comedian - promoting his Tour)

I have spent my life trying to avenge the theft of my foreskin. This show is about that. I cannot express how much this show is about being circumcised, please do not buy a ticket under any other illusion.

Not sure how truthful the above is  but this appears to be:

Circumcision: My penis causes me constant pain

Remember kiddies, God designed it for a purpose! And it is rightfully YOURS :D

A Catholic Priest, a Baptist Preacher, and a Rabbi were sitting around drinking coffee. Someone made the comment that preaching to people isn't really all that hard, a real challenge would be to preach to a bear. One thing led to another, and they decided that each would find a bear and attempt to convert it to their religion. Seven days later, they all came together to discuss their experiences.

Father Flannery, who had his arm in a sling and had various bandages on his body and limbs, went first. Well, he said, "I went into the woods to find me a bear. And when I found him, I began to read to him from the Catechism. Well, that bear came after me and began to slap me around. So I quickly grabbed my holy water, sprinkled him and, Holy Mary Mother of God, he became as gentle as a lamb."

Reverend Billy Bob the Baptist spoke next. He was in a wheelchair and had an IV drip. "I went out and found me a bear. And then I began to read to my bear from the Bible! But that bear came after me. We wrestled down one hill until we came to a creek. So I quickly dunked him and baptized his hairy soul. And just like you said, he became as gentle as a lamb."

The Priest and the Reverend both looked down at the Rabbi, who was lying in a hospital bed. He was in a body cast and traction with IV's and monitors running in and out of him. The Rabbi looked up and said: "Looking back on it - circumcision may not have been the best way to start."

Not mine of course but quite apt. :D
