The Conflicting Theologies of the New Testament

The Reverend Bob

Fart Machine and Beastmaster
It works by allowing the Scripture to interpret itself. Here a little, there a little.
Scripture isn't going to get up and interpret itself. People do the interpreting mostly they do it with an uncritical eye that is color with their own prejudices rather than looking at the Bible through the critical methods.

Bible is misused, it is being read by the parties it was not written for.

No.. Don't blame the reader. I think there is more than enough evidence that the OT stories were borrowed from other cultures and that the texts have been redacted and amended numerous times.

Archaeology originally set out to prove the Bible stories and that has failed miserably.

Not really, it was mostly written by the same mystery school, by different people and times but bares single purpose.

No. It obviously doesn't have a single purpose.. It changed as the political situation changed.

Same? I think the Ebionites differed from the Johannite Christians who differed vastly from the Thomasian Christians. That is the whole point. They weren't the same and influenced the NT

I don't agree with her thesis that Paul was a Gnostic. I do believe that some Gnostic teachings got slipped in by a wily editor with Gnostic sympathies.
I see it mostly like she described, I re-read Paul her way, it makes a lot of sense, and the Gospels read in similar way make sense. Granted we do not know all about Valentinian ways.

By reading it her way, you cheated yourself out of applying critical theory to the Bible and seeing what it says itself not through the eyes of another.

Have you ever wondered why Jesus spoke in parables that not even his own disciples could not understand?

Well, I studied to find out. And what I learned was that only those who were interested enough did he reveal what they meant. Only to the ones who truly believed he was who he claimed to be and wanted to understand the truth behind what he spoke.

If Jesus was the one true God who created everything and divinely inspired all the writing in the bible like many Christians proclaim it is then there would be no contradictions in the bible. It would be simple and easy to understand, but in reality is quite complicated and convoluted thus we can safely assumed that the Christian God Jesus doesn't exist.
Parables are meant to close the eyes not open them.

I have my own intuition and also read a lot of Gnostic sources, especially Rudolf Steiner. I have a good Idea what Christ Jesus was about.
