I am a vegan and I am not offended by Katie Hopkins.

Don't know who she is, but I completely reject the concept of no platform. I don't care if you're Alex Jones or The Young Turks. If I don't like what you have to say, I'll turn it off, but I still think you have the right to say it and make it. Also, no one has to conform to my idea of politics for me to see value some of what they're saying. I'm not a vegan, not a lefty, but I still think that in many cases they make valid points. :D

Is it possible to know what this is all about without watching a 18 minute video?

This might help. It is from beneath the video.

Oh my god Katie you are hilarious fantastic speech. I found it laughable how people in the crowd took offence for the woman who's name you mocked at 9:44, when you mentioned she WANTED to kill you... OH so this poor woman having her name mocked we feel sorry for but it's fine when she actively plans to murder Katie... Once again people getting too easily offended which you ironically mentioned numerous times in the speech. The easily offended, deserve to be easily offended. There are BIGGER problems in the world. To all young, naive and spoilt humans... WAKE UP!

It shows how society has produced insecure people, easily offended & looking to others to defend them for feeling so. We need to stand on our own two feet & grow up as a nation instead of blaming everyone else who disagrees with our view.

@Sue Furn It's the entitled generation raised by the Baby Boomers who benifitted so much from the welfare state.

Katie’s final point is all that needs to be said. We either want a world where we put others in a position to decide what we are allowed to hear, or we expose ourselves to all opinion and ideas in the search for a broader understanding with our own reason and intelligence as a guide to deciding what to embrace and what to discard. It is nothing less than hubris to claim you can assess and evaluate ideas without a genuine attempt to listen to and understand them.

I've so many posts to respond to.
Taking time off to watch videos would interfere.
Written summaries are efficient.
