Nuclear Powered Cars & Other Great Ideas

That's a pretty low bar to exceed.
For example the one in Latina was built with the technology of a British company and with Italian state's money...when the ENEL bought it in the 60s the safety controls were restless and focused on checking the oxidation of steel elements.

The politicians will follow the will of the people. If we the people can overcome irrational fear and ignorance about nuclear power we can have clean and safe nuclear power.

We already have it in the USA's Navy... have had since the late 1950s in fact.

Nuclear power is such, that you cannot trust the "lowest bidder", nor can you employ draconian "cost cutting"-- which is probably why Libertarians and Republicans hate it.

Democrats hate it because they don't understand the Big Words, and well... "if you cannot pronounce it, you must hate it" ;)

/end sarcasm.

I suspect that many Pubs love nuclear power.
This Libertarian dislikes it because of its history.
If ever we could do it safely & cost effectively, I'm open to using it.

For some reason, I had you on <ignore>.
Twas accidental.
Fixed now.
I can see you loud & clear.

I was attempting to be funny, with my "why nobody likes nuclear"; I did try to include everyone in my comment.

But, yeah, "crash" a coal plant? The plant burns, people run around in a panic, but that's pretty much it, once the fire is out.

Ironically? If you were to "crash" a hydro-electric plant? The failure of the dam would have far more immediate destructive power than any US engineered atomic plant would.

For proof, I submit the "disaster" at 3 Mile Island.

But yeah. The potential for atomic melt-down can really ruin your day.

They will come out, just before universal Flying Cars, I expect. ;)
You could keep the board in the car as a spare instead of a tire or for trips to the beach. Or Mars.

I remember in college a friend swore that hover boards were real, but that the government wouldn't allow them over safety issues. I tried to explain to him the facts, but he was persistent. Now I understand that this is probably how some conspiracy theories got started. Drunk college kids arguing over beers.

Never underestimate the power of Beer, to ferment some really cool-sounding ideas... so long as the beer keeps flowing, that is.

Upon sober reflection? You either realize the "cool idea" was really naive, or stupid or likely both. Or else you don't remember at all, which can be a kind of negative blessing. :D

For years, I used to have Incredible Dreams With Brilliant Ideas in them-- I'd wake up, remembering some of the details, but all I really remembered as the day went on, was that they had been Great, if only I could remember. (you know how dreams work-- we seem to automatically forget the bulk of them, after about an hour or so being awake)

This prompted me to do a Dream Journal for a time-- just as I'd wake up, if I remembered the dream, I'd jot down notes and what-not, to remember it, like a stream of consciousness thing-- ignoring logic, rationality, etc, just get the details down before I forgot.

Then? Later on, I'd go read the notes.... yeah.... they were all about a silly as you could imagine. :D

It's funny, how in dreams, we are The Most Brilliant Of Them All-- but in actual reality? Not so much. ;)

Even if I had a brilliant idea that sprang from a dream, that would be the day that I did not write it down. Usually, my dreams are just strange. I once dreamed about having a fight with a bar full of bikers armed only with one of those tiny Swiss Army pen knives with a little blade about an inch long. I am not sure what the brilliant take away message would have been for that one. I think you might get more mileage out of dreams as sources of poetry or stories, than technological innovations.

I have never been to a pub that used nuclear power. All of those I have been to were powered by alcohol.

It took a moment, but now I remember. There was a Saturday Night Live skit where someone spilled a Pepsi on the control panel of a nuclear reactor. Carter was visiting at the time and somehow grew to enormous size. It was back during the Three Mile Island incident, which coincided with the release of The China Syndrome.

The China Syndrome was a good flick.

But now that I think about it, what would they call "The China Syndrome" in China?
