What does the Bible say about the origins of the Earth in relation to what science say?

A few years ago I decided to do some Bible investigation (study) into what the Bible say about the creation of our universe. I had just about enough on what Atheists and Muslims told me what they perceived the Bible said.
  • The Bible say the Sun was created after the Earth, yet science knows that the Sun is part of the Universe, and our solar system is 8 billion years younger than the galaxy we live in. Therefore, the Bible is wrong.
  • The Bible say that the Universe is only about 6 000 years old, and science knows this is a huge error. It can be as old as 12.5 to 18 billion years! If the Author of the Bible could not describe the creation to syncronize with what science knows today, he can not be the God who created it all.
Well, so the argument goes. Quite frankly, these arguments are valid!
I never found anyone that could answer these questions, except for perhaps Creationists that denies science and twist the understanding of the Creation description to fit in with science. Some might even attempt to twist scientific facts to fit in with the Bible.

I just wondered "What is the Facts"?
I realised that I had to go to Genesis to see for myself what the Bible says about the way God created everything.
And I was quite surprised at what I found, was totally different from what I always believed the Bible said. Today I am delighted to know that what science says, the Bible described 4 500 years ago to Moses.
Lets first recap what Genesis 1 says about the first 5 days.

Ok so God says this is what he did every day
Well, it goes like this,
In the beginning:
God created the Heavens and the Earth
the Earth was void and dark without any recognisable shape,
and the Spirit of God hovered above the waters.
God said, let there be Light, and it was evening and morning,
the 1st day was done.
day 2
God seperated waters above and below a firmament he made
day 3
God seperated land and sea.
day 4
God placed the Sun, Moon and Stars in the sky.
We will go so far for now.

To me something was very difficuilt to understand, and it was this thing called a firmament.
I thought about it for about 3 weeks, visited some websites, read commentaries, but I could not get the answer.
Water that was above and below this firmament simply did not calculate in my mind.

I then memorised Chapter one and kept on thinking about it as I travelled to work and home. At that stage I had a good 2 hours travelling a day.

Now, this is not a hoax, or something I cooked up, but a voice told me: "What did the Earth look on the morning of the 3rd day?"
Without causing an accident at 140Km/h, my mind rushed around at the same speed.
So, let me leave the Question over to anyone who would like to answer.
What did the Earth look on the morning of day 3?

Where in the bible does claim the Earth is 6000 years old? I'll give you a clue no ****ing where

The 7day creation story in genesis is brilliant considering it's historical age. Find one contemporary and better

  • Adam was not created a baby and neither were the rest of the beings on earth.
  • We see that God formed a mature earth it may take millions of years if formed naturally but God engineered the earth and it was created a mature earth millions of years old.
  • We see the light and darkness formed and in 6 days God created everything.

Well, so the argument goes. Quite frankly, these arguments are valid!

Valid as age maybe but created instantly by God. We have to think about Adam to the human eye and even to science he would have been years old on the day he was created.
You should never use manmade ways to observe the truths of the bible. You need to look at God the creator whom nothing is impossible for.
So it is clear God created everything to be age you see it as.

Great. "Embedded age".
BUT, actually, everything was made last Thursday.

Only a person who has know idea of what "science"

"interpretation" of genesis could possibly think
there is any validity whatever in genesis.

There 6,000 year idea came from an Anglican Bishop name Ussher in the 19th century. He used Biblical generation chronologies to come up with the number. He lacked a lot of knowledge on how Generations were recorded, and not recorded.

The Bible does not say the earth is 6000 years old. Bishop Ussher, a 17th century Irish archbishop played cut up dolls with the genealogies listed in later books of the OT to come up with his idea of what it is saying. That is not a teaching of the Bible. Hell, even Pat Robertson doesn't believe that! :)

It hardly matters whether someone thinks the 6 day poof
was 6000 years ago, or a million.
The poof is pure fantasy.

The description in the Bible is as follow.
Calculate the ages of the descendents of Adam up to Jacob.
Add 400 years for Egyptian captivity.
another 490 years for the Judges untill the dedication of the Temple.
count the Kings in Judah and Israel untill the first captivity of the 10 tribes with Schalmanezzar, and we get to 721 Bc.
from thereone we have the dates quite well sorted out, and we get +- 6 000 years.
Usher was quite good when he did this dating chronology from the given dates in the Bible.

However, you are correct, it does not say the Earth is 6 000 years old, but life is 6 000 years old.

Anyhow, thats how it is calculated for what it is worth.
And there is no contempory, and I think you will like what I will show.

Remember, ¨ firmament ¨ is an English word, translated from the Hebrew. Many times there is no English word that carries the full meaning of the Hebrew, so the translators pick the closest English word.

The creation story is not in the least bit credible, and as for the idea the Earth is only a few thousand years old that is crazy, science, which I trust far more than religion, has proved otherwise.

Some of us noticed a while back that no too
infallible readings of inerrant scrip are the same.

As for what the bible is really saying, who is
supposed to know? It is full of inaccuracies
and contradictions Oh,and things that simply are
not true.

And I agree, but keep in mind that God gave a description of how He created it, and if we dont understand what it is chronologically, the Atheist and Muslim will use this description as evidence that the Author of the Bible dont know how the Universe came to be.

I needed to get the answer, and to simply say, God didit was a good answer, but not a Great one where His glory is revealed with what science today hold so preacious as evidence that God does not exist.
What I will show you will obviously be a naturalistic way to explain the creation by God, but I love it when Atheists realises they can not continue with their old arguments.

Not to mention how all the plants and animals were
suddenly poofed into their present forms.

I would like you to remember these words.
It will come back to haunt you.
But what say you, How did the Earth look (appear) on the morning of the 3rd day?
