What do you think when people start crying as they talk about their personal relationship with Jesus?

I'd tell you my desired response but it would be a violation of the forum rules.

Some guy in aa recently started talking about Jesus and crying. I see this stuff all the time.

( I guess its not as bad as my posts at RF, so I can't fault these people for being inappropriate or childish. It's just a different weird I can't stand is all)

I think crying is a symptom of emotional flooding. If someone cries while discussing their religious beliefs I think it is best to breathe calmly and listen. It is certainly not time for discussion.

I think, "PHOOOooooooonneeeEEEEYYY".

You'd send them a bunch of links to a website that sells shoes made out of recycled lint?

Bet Jesus was crying along with him.

Or shaking his head...

Note to staff: is it against the forum rules to continually badger staff for an emoji showing Jesus shaking his head?

Badgers? We don't need no staffing badgers!!!

For my next trick, I will simultaneously imitate all three of the Three Stooges *pokes self in the eye*

*Edit: no, it's not against the rules.

This is the nearest I could find - seems an appropriate response to the Jesus weepers as well - maybe you could try this pose @PopeADope

oh btw.....that episode at the Last Supper
where the disciples laid two swords on His Table

obviously.....His own followers did not understand Him

He said...It is enough

He got up and walked out to a garden
stepped away to be alone

and cried

Nothing wrong with crying.

It's just people crying while discussing Jesus is something I've encountered a lot. It doesn't sit well with me. But oh well, I do much more idiotic things

Perhaps if you focused on dealing with your own issues instead of picking on other people for theirs, you wouldn't need AA meetings.

Just a friendly suggestion.;)

Matt, you are being insensitive again. There is nothing wrong with a broken person getting emotional during recovery. Jesus obviously means something very special to this person

My problems are certainly worse than the vast majority of other people's.

many of the people I cannot stand are better people than myself. I'm the first to admit it.

Just focus on yourself for now. Block out everyone else and their BS.

Yes, it's okay if Jesus is really important to people.

This thread is a bit cruel.

I just have seen so many people cry over their relationship with Jesus and it's become a pet peeve of mine

Compassion and self-compassion is important in recovery. You have to learn that you are not the only one carrying around bull **** and that there are people going through the same ****

If someone's emotional response to discussing religion is to cry and weep, then allow them. It's an emotional release that is doing no harm to anyone else.

I have been overwhelmed with religious emotion, just usually not while talking about it with others.

Well, could just be you're picking up on the insincerity, if that's what it is. If it is I know what you mean and it's as annoying as hell.

Not saying it has to be an act, could be real, who knows. Just saying it doesn't hurt to be able to spot when it isn't.

Seeing through people's games isn't anything to feel bad about.
