Rail Guns

I know to some it might seem impossible to some, but this lefty loves things that go boom especially when they're delivered at Mach 6 (even if there's no boom).

The existing prototype weapon can fire solid spike-like kinetic projectiles, also known as Hyper-Velocity Projectiles (HVP), which destroy their targets by smashing into them rather than with an explosive warhead, at speeds up to Mach 6.

Wouldn't they explode things better if they were shot in a straighter line, since they're relying on impact velocity?

Very cool, I been watching this tech develop for years now. Looks like they are finally getting it to be reliable! Love kinetic projectiles was never a fan of the chemical laser program. I think I'm like you @sun rise , I just like things that go boom!

It becomes even easier to kill people we hate, & ensure numerous
long term enemies. Easy to use weapons with distant effects
divorce us from personally experiencing the horror.

This is useful, but has the risk of leaders losing all inhibition.
Should we trust them with ever greater power?
We've already seen this phenomenon as leaders treat war
& regime change as something easy, predictable, & merely
a matter of what suits our purpose.
