The first Democratic primary debate is set for Wednesday June 26th and Thursday June 27th. The debate will be hosted by NBC News. The field of qualifying candidates has been split randomly in half.

The first night's candidates are:

Cory Booker
Elizabeth Warren
Beto O'Rourke
Amy Klobuchar
John Delaney
Tulsi Gabbard
Julián Castro
Tim Ryan
Bill de Blasio
Jay Inslee

The second night's candidates are:

Bernie Sanders
Kamala Harris
Joe Biden
Pete Buttigieg
Michael Bennet
Marianne Williamson
Eric Swalwell
Kirsten Gillibrand
Andrew Yang
John Hickenlooper

Soo, thoughts?? Anyone you're rooting for yet? What will you be looking for? Will you be watching at all? What questions do you hope the candidates are asked?

Personally I think Elizabeth Warren has a great chance to shine as the front runner of the first night's candidates. Biden's poll numbers have been trending down and he's been trying to keep a low profile in general, so it will be interesting to see how he plays this. Bernie needs to be well-prepped for foreign policy and trade questions, those may hurt him if he doesn't have solid answers.

Should be good for some folks to make a name for themselves and distinguish themselves from the background noise.

Rooting for Andrew Yang.

Doubt I'll watch all of it.

Would like to see all em grilled hard. No softballs thrown. Let the serious contenders stand out from the wannabes!

No to Biden and Sanders - although I'll vote for them if necessary.

So far, I know a bit about Harris, Warren and Buttigieg and they seem reasonable. Most of the rest I know very little to nothing about.

It's interesting that you're excluding those two as a pair. Can I ask why?

Biden is taking money from groups that represent the status quo. He's fumbled situations too often in the past.

And for both it's age - they are roughly as old as I am. I know from firsthand experience that at some point one's get up and go goes. To do the job required to recover from the disaster of the swamp monster, despicable donald, will take great energy and endurance. I don't see them as having what's required over the long haul.

That's why he needs a solid VP choice if he wants to stand a chance. I don't think he'd be good, but I don't think he'd be bad. All things considered, I dont think hed be bad to settle for if thats who people get behind (I don't really see it happening though).

Jay Inslee is the governor of Washington state. His focus is on environmental protections. Washington state has been challenging many of Trump's executive orders, like his Muslim travel ban.
When he was in congress, he was not afraid to break from the party line.

I like Harris best followed by Warren. Klobuchar could be interesting. Biden is popular but he's too old just as Trump is too old and Hillary was too old. It's foolish for a party to run a candidate who wouldn't serve two full terms.

I'll be voting for Bernie again.
The first political donation my wife ever made to a candidate was to Bernie in 2016. She was truly angered by how he was pushed out and the revelation of corruption inside the DNC. She still voted, but, like me, voted Libertarian.

I truly don't understand how people could vote for someone like Bernie and then vote Libertarian. Jill Stein I can see, but Gary Johnson?

I really hope Tulsi Gabbard and Andrew Yang step up and shine above the rest. We need somebody who isn't a swamp monster like Warren or Biden, and somebody who actually has realistic policy proposals based on issues that the average American actually cares about, like keeping us out of yet another useless Middle Eastern war, bringing back industry jobs, a sane and realistic approach to climate change and pollution, actually getting health care right this time, and providing viable alternatives to parasitic universities and predatory student loan systems.

Oh and let's not forget the fact that de Blasio is useless.

Warren will likely wipe the floor with everyone on day 1, though O’Rourke has charisma on his side; so if he keeps his cool (expected) and has studied enough to seem at least a student of Warren (maybe), then it could be a draw.

Day 2 is a whole other issue. Those first four could be a wildcard toss-up.

I’ve been pro-Warren since before she knew she was going to run. So I’ll do my best to watch the first debate. The 2nd one too if possible.

To protest the status quo. Notice that neither Trump nor Hillary received over 48.2% of the vote. IMO, it's a civic duty to vote, but that doesn't mean I have to bend over and just accept whatever candidate the two parties throw at me. If either of them want my vote, they'll have to earn it.
