Fastfood healthy

I've been told by big folks who say they don't have healthy grocery stores in their community only fast food places because of rural area that they have no choice but to over eat. Some use the excuse that its cheaper to eat fastfood.

I have already discussed that part, obese folks do not ever ever go in and buy a kids meal or one small burger for 2 bucks at a fast food place ever ever. We spend 15 20 30 bucks at a time on fast food per day and then if your eating healthy you only buy enough for 3 meals a day which is way cheaper.

But anyways those who cry they have to eat at fastfood places. There is a lot of healthy options these days at fast food places, Subways sandwich shop has about 8 different selections for health. Get whole wheat bread and lowfat ham chicken roast beef turkey tuna and vegi, theres different chicken sandwiches now too.

Jack int he box has a few different chicken options a sandwich, chicken terriaky, my favorite is chicken pita with salsa cheese in a whole wheat pita yum...............

Starbucks has skinny chocolates sugarfree,

Long John silvers has low fat fish without the skin lowfat cod and tialpia and grilled shrimp too I think with rice instead of fries .

Boston market has rotiserie chicken with corn bread which is a healthy carb and vegitables.I thnk they have brown rice too.

KFC has rotiserie chicken all you have to do to rotiserie chicken is pull off the skin and its healthy.Get vegis with it.

The cafeterias all have inexpensive healthy meals.

Taco bell and most Mexican fastfood places have excellent healthy choice because they have tacos, some have soft corn tortillas, taco shells and corn tortilla shells are healthy breads, for some beans are too, So I get 1 tacos a side of re fried beans pintos and cheese, its not fatty enough to make me gain weigh. I can get beef or chicken tacos they are both low fat. They also have black beans which are really good.

Anyone else got fast food or restaurant recommendations for healthy put it up!

It really isn't that cheap I can feed for 4 people with roasted chicken, a simple salad and juice at the cost of about 15 dollars whereas if I take them to McDonalds and everyone gets a chicken sandwich, salad and a soda it will cost me over $17.50 for the four chicken sandwiches alone which are price at $4.39 where I am at. Now if we add 4 side salads at the price of $1.59 added to the bill, we are now paying over $24.00 for the meal. Now, since everyone needs to drink we have to add the sodas, 4 medium soft drinks at McDonald cost $0.99 because right now they are on sale. This brings up the total to nearly $30.00! I could have spent half of that on a home cooked chicken dinners and still have had money left over for some sort of dessert.

I love McDonald's $1 McChickens for the price. Then I realized they were kind of unhealthy and not only that, I did develop an allergy from something in them.

I agree with you and its even higher for me because I get it off of door dash. Butt here was a huge program called the weight of a nation on a few years back that claimed fat people who lived in rural areas had absolutly no choice but to be fat because it was too expensive to buy from grocery stores.

They gave examples, of kids meals and 4 dolalrs meals at fast food places claiming the fat 500 pound person could go in and get the 3 or 4 dollar meal once a day and live real cheap off it. There is nos uch thing as a 500 or 4 or 300 pound person who goes into the fastfood place and get a s 5 dollar meal, it does not exist.

They spend tons at fast food places, I did. I've had folks say how can they spend all that money on restaurant food fastfood if they are on welfare? The same way i did, use 600 of my 900 dollar check on fastfood , and 150 a week is a lot sometimes it was 100 a week, between 100 and 150 a week, then beg and manipulate and borrow money from relatives. We addicts no how to get our way with relatives and friends.

Its not all that bad to order form Mcdonalds if your just eating a 1 dollar mcchicken or a kids meal. Its becomes unhealthy when you eat like I do at Mcdonalds. If I go to Mcdonalds, Ill get 1 20 piece chicken nugget and double quarter pound burger and with several deserts and huge coke.

Another problem you mentioned was the existence of food deserts in some areas (to people in rural food deserts: if you live in a rural food desert try to grow your own food as much as you can for fresh fruits and vegetables), they have no choice in the matter since there are no markets near by. And this hurts them not only in terms of health but in terms of economics.

This may be a teensy bit off-topic, but another idea is to purchase a Soda Stream and take the bottle with you when you go out. It will save money and calories, I believe, over buying a soda from fast food.

I do not consider the high glycemic carb breads and corn products healthy. Dropping the consumption of high salt food, white bread, potatoes, and sugar will go a long to improve health. Another problem is high salt content of fast food restaurants. Rotisorie chicken and other non-fried chicken and fish is an improvement over deep fried and breaded, but still high salt.

I believe rural areas do have health alternatives in regular grocery stores. The appeal of fast food is more lazy convenience than economics. Whole wheat and coarse grain bread products are widely available.

Unfortunately low fat doesn't mean healthy. They usually ad a ton of sugar to make it edible.

Do you have any idea how many calories are in their stuff?? I went to Del Taco once, got this little veggie burrito thing, had lettuce and tomato, etc. (admittedly, also refried beans and cheese and guacamole and whatever their sauce is, probably also sour cream). Almost 600 calories. Not exactly a healthy choice. I just about choked when I read the calorie count on the wrapper.

Anything you get from a restaurant is likely to be loaded with calories. Probably also salt and sugar. I don't know how they manage it, but there you go.

I'm wondering why you're so concerned with judging other people, though.

I have heard others say the same thing about corn too. Some say its a healthy carb some not. pf course corn on corn chips or tortilla chips are not healthy because they are high salt high fat and high calories. It has not bothered me.

On the salt issue, I have always had low blood pressure around 120 over 70 and my dr says my salt level are always low. I don;t know if its because I don't eat as mush salt on other stuff outside fast food, or because salt just does not hurt me.

But the Dr says I don't need to worry about salt, or spice, it does not bother me. But its bad for a lot of people. I ate almost no carbs except a couple of times when I ate refried beans this week, Black and pinto beans do not effect me negatively either, so I consider them to be a healthy carb as well.

I had gotten back up to 297 from 278 in one week gained almost 20 pounds, but according to my scales I'm all the way down to 280 17 pounds in the past 5 days. I have been eating high fat meats though.

But however, I am going to weigh on a drs scales to see if its right, I have lost a ton of weight on no carbs before its possible for me to lose that much but it could be wrong. I'm sure my weight is doing much better now though. 5 Days on almost no carbs is good for me.

I got a new scales not long ago. tobecontinued

If one work with the assumption that fast food is unhealthy in general, I think they are on the save side :)

If people are concerned about becoming way to obese, due to over eating, its actually fairly easy to keep track off. Its the motivation that is the hard part. :) You don't even have to excise to avoid becoming obese.

An average woman needs to eat about 2000 calories per day to maintain, and 1500 calories to lose one pound of weight per week.
An average man needs 2500 calories to maintain, and 2000 to lose one pound of weight per week.

Obviously its a bit more complicated than this, but to just keep it very simple. What you can do, is simply keep track of how many calories you eat.

So for instance, using MC Donalds own calorie calculator and we buy a menu:

Double Quarter Pounder®* with Cheese
Standard Ingredients
780 Cal

World Famous Fries® (Large)
Standard Ingredients
510 Cal

Coca-Cola® (Large)
Standard Ingredients
290 Cal

Total: 1580 Cal

You eat a couple of these a day, including whatever else one might eat you will gain in weight. But if you can make a living only eating 1 of these menus a day, you are going to loose weight :)

So the important thing is to keep track of how many things you eat. Doesn't have to be extremely precise.

I did eat high fat sausage 2 kinds this week 2 kinds of cheese, bacon, and ground beef.I am going to change my diet back though .I'm going to get low fat sirloin steak which is expensive but worth it. eggs again no bacon just cheese refried beans and I have taco shells. If I eat 2 or 3 healthy breads a day, maybe 2 tacos one serving of refried's and then eat low fat instead of high fat meats and lowfat everything else except cheese I lose better then with high fats, I can lose a lot on low fat meal plans. Its similar to body for life except 3 meals instead of five, 3 small meals and maybe 1 or 2 snacks, sometimes i get sugar free jello pudding with only 11 carbs in it.I eat one a day or one evry other day.

Well i could never afford to eat at Mcdonalds everyday even when I was over eating. It was more like fast food 2 or 3 days a week then get cheapo junk food from the grocery store which is way cheaper then fastfood junk food for the rest of the week.

Its without a doubt best to make ones own food, because then you know what the hell is in it :D

Also a good trick, is to eat raw celery, not the leafs, so just cut them into sticks and wash them and then eat them, they don't taste all that good, but when you get used to them its no problem. The good thing about it, is that eating celery makes your body spend more calories processing them than are in them. So its a natural "loosing" weight vegetable :D

I would disagree with that, there's
s a lot of healthier choices in restaurants these days. Applebees and other steak houses family restaurants these days have quite a bit.But you have to be responsible for looking at the ingredients , you can't just go to Del taco and order a Vegitarian burrito and epxect it to be healthy especially if it has a bunch of sauce on it like that.

As long as I am on my diet, I don't every order from fast foods and restaurants without going to the internet first. They all have calories counters with menus and nutritional info with carbs and fat grams, and if they don't I don't go there.Uh I figure it out on the internet first and plan my fat and carbs and calorie amount out first and find the healthy menu , and read all the ingredients on it first then figure out what I am going to order.

I suggest that anyone who plans on doing that do it, just because it says its vegetarian, That does not mean anything I've been to an indian Vegitarian restaurant before at cosmic cafe in Dallas, and I ate black bean pizza once and tomato soup with their home made crackers and bread with it and their healthier root beer that had a ton of sugar in it. of course that's not healthy at all, I knew I was not eating healthy. SO just because it says its vegitarian that does not mean anything.

I suggest to anyone who plans on staying on a healthy meal plan and going out to eat or ordering from the fast food place do what i do go and figure out you calories and fat and carbs off their nutrition menu first, and if they don't have nutrition menu don't order it.

That was a go-to for us while travelling. Many moons ago. Now there are so many better options. Do you guys have Freshii in the US?
