If you don't believe in superstition or myth or supernatural events why do you list your religion as Christian?

Christians are NOT required to park their brains at the door or reject science and education.. nor are they required to take the Bible literally.

IF, as our floodie friends like to say, there are
200 (number varies) flood myths around the
world, they are not likely all connected to
anything about the black sea.

In the event if black sea is the source, there
is a kind of a G Washington hatchet originality
to the account.
I am not sure I follow you.

Some of the similar mythologies could be the result of cultural contamination, while others are myths about local flooding. Those that are similar exist among cultures in contact with each other.

If the BS deluge happened, it could still be a primary source of some of the mythology. None of this changes the fact that there is no evidence for a global flood.

Absolutely.

If people use sound thinking and evidence to support their positions, it should not matter what their personal beliefs are. As long as they are not using them as evidence to reject science, history or reasonable discussion, why should anyone really care. But it seems it bothers some regardless of whether it enters the discussion or not.

Why does it matter what she believes. She is not using that belief to support or reject the topics of discussion on here.

This speaks to your own bias against religious belief. You seem unhappy that others might have a belief even if it is not brought up to address anything.

Some of it, could be.

Yet you believe a man was born to a virgin who was impregnated by a ghost; walked on water; fed the multitudes with fish and a loaf of bread (or whatever); was followed around by scribes who recorded his every word; died, came back to life, disappeared.

Stop projecting. I don't believe in superstition or myth or supernatural events.

Christians are NOT required to park their brains at the door or reject science and education.. nor are they required to take the Bible literally.

If you don't believe Jesus died and was resurrected then I don't see how you could consider yourself a Christan.

If you do believe Jesus died and was resurrected then you do believe in superstition and myth and supernatural events.

For all of the denial of brain parking we hear from
Christians, it is what they end up having to do,
at some point.

I suppose that someone could call themselves a Christian if they followed the teachings of Jesus just as one can be a Buddhist by following the teachings of Buddha. Neither appear to demand a belief in the supernatural.

Every last one of them picks and chooses what
to believe and what to follow, so, saying who is
xian on such a basis is a fools game.

That's the Christian teaching, but we really don't know.

That's not even a good no-answer.

If that is going to be the extent of your answer, then I have no choice but to pick and choose how to address your comments in the future. Since you have not denied believing Jesus died and was resurrected, I will go with the idea that you do believe in superstition and myth and supernatural events regardless of your protestations.

Well, I have come to reject both blood sacrifice and original sin since I was a kid.

I am not sure that negates the message of the Christ. It doesn't for me.

Yes. I is flood plain.

Ziusudra - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziusudra
Ziusudra is one of several mythic characters that are protagonists of near-eastern Flood myths, including Atrahasis, Utnapishtim and the biblical Noah - although each story has distinctive elements, many key story elements are common to two, three, or four versions.

Where you talking about Gilgamesh? I am not sure if your "Yes" is to my question or my point about Flood plains
