In the garden of eden the devil told eve that she would not die when you ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.Which was a lie.But were in the bible does it say the devil made up the idea of the immortal soul?

It was spoken about physical body which dies and soul which does not.

The devil never told Adam & Eve their soul was immortal.

God did.

I don't know who made up the immortal soul idea.If it wasn't from the devil.
The Devil is the main promoter of all lies. If he didn’t originate certain false teachings ... he certainly supports them!

Did you ever wonder, in almost every culture that worships their ancestors... why is fear the main emotion involved in it? The fear of displeasing their ancestors plays heavily in it! Why? You’d think that your dead ancestors would love you, not “try to get” you!

lol in a sense yes ironically.

Sort of depends in how you understand the term devil and the term soul. Both terms have many multiple meanings and multple compounded ways they can be used. To add to the confusion we also have history as well to add to the fun. So pretty soon we have a really fun mix of reasoning here on RF in debates!!! Identical to this documemtary...

He did? Where?

Genesis 2 16-17

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Though technically he just told Adam as Eve had not been created yet. But Eve being formed from Adam's DNA I guess technically He did tell her.:p

Oh I see what you mean - by implication God suggests that they wouldn't have died if they were obedient and didn't eat the fruit? But what does that have to do with the doctrine of the "immortal soul" that separates itself from the body and continues in heaven, hell, purgatory...etc. after the physical death of the body? God never says anything about that as far as I am aware - neither does the devil. Right?

The mythology has no rational explanation.

The mythology has no rational explanation.

The oldest creation myth in the Bible isn't in the Book of Genesis at all. It is alluded to in the Book of Isaiah, in the Book of Job and in Psalms.

The clearest and fullest biblical account of this ancient myth appears in Psalm 74: “For God... Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters. Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness. Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers. The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun. Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter” (74:12-17).

It wasn't implied. It was extremely clear. He said here is a paradise do whatever you want, however you want, and you shall live forever, unless you eat from this one specific tree, then you will be able to die.

I don't really see how it could be any more clear.

But what does that have to do with the doctrine of the "immortal soul" that separates itself from the body and continues in heaven, hell, purgatory...etc.

Not sure what you mean.

It doesn't. By telling her that she would not die, when God said that they would, death came early when their firstborn son murdered his brother in a fit of jealousy.

Adam lived for 930 years, so physical death was not immediate but from the day they ate the fruit, they were separated from God, experiencing spiritual death. Physical death would occur after God had allowed them to fulfill his mandate to "fill the earth" with their kind.

When they experienced death, it went against their 'programming' so in time, when false religious ideas started to creep in, a continuation of life in some invisible realm, seemed like the only way to make death acceptable. Since all false worship carries this idea, and all false worship is satan's idea, then life after death simply perpetuates his first lie, making it appear as if God was the liar, not himself.
