I believe it is. The women involved often are in desperate financial straits with little to no prospects of escape other than marriage to a complete stranger. It is like they feel they have no other choice and if they want to have any chance at a decent life or to get out of whatever social situation they are living in they need to what I could only describe as prostituting themselves. I don't want to put any shame on them but it seems so much like that. The shame belongs to those men who are taking advantage of these women, they have commodified women to such an extent that they even seem to feel that even a wife is something to be purchased. To me it seems to be cold and heartless.

Wouldn't do it myself, but I wouldn't judge someone that did. Of course there is almost no way of telling the difference between a willing participant or unwilling until she arrives off the plane. Then it should be very obvious.

Then there is the question of what happens now?

Let's say she is doing it of her own will.

If the man isn't willing to let her go if she decides to divorce him later then the guy is guilty of sex trafficking imo.

But if she decides to leave and is allowed o leave of her own will then its legit.

Let's say its obvious she is a sex trafficking victim (injuries reflecting abuse, timid, afraid etc). What so you do then?

Do you report it? You might help shut down a particular operation, but the woman will just be shipped back to her native country and probably picked up by another sex trafficker. Who would probably just kill her if they find out she lead to the demise of another operation.

So does she stay? Or do you try to make it work?

If she stays then revert to the top scenario etc.

I think such arrangements are sad and creepy, but it's not trafficking if the bride is a willing participant. Many go this route to get their green card. Once they've got what they want, they divorce and take their cut. If anyone is being exploited, it's the lonely sap.
