Daniel 12:5 "And I Daniel saw, and, behold, two others stood, on one side of the bank of the river, and the other on the other side of the bank of the river. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was over the water of the river, When will be the end of the wonders which thou has mentioned? 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was over the water of the river, and he lifted up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and sware by him that lives for ever, that it should be for a time of times and half a time: when the dispersion is ended they shall know all these things."

Matthew 1:17 "So all the generations from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon [are] fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ [are] fourteen generations."

With the Babylonian captivity at 587 BC.
587 = 14 generations; 1 generation = 42* years.
1761 AD, Abraham; 1174, David; 0 AD, Jesus.
14x3 = 42* generations from Abraham to Christ.
14x3 = 42 generations from Jesus = 1761 AD.
1/2 of 587 = 293.5 = 7 generations.
587 + 1173 + 293.5 = 1 time, 2 times, and 1/2 a time = 2054.5.
42 generations + 7 generations =
49 generations from Jesus' advent to His return.

Counting a generation as 30 years, plus 42 equals 1302 years. The implication is that he already came and took his brothers and sisters, leaving us losers behind. Sounds about right.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Jesus tells us, through Matthew, that it's 14 generations from the Babylonian Captivity until He was in the world, and the world never knew Him--He came unto His own world, and they accepted Him not. Those who accept Him will believe that the term 14 generations means 587 years. What it means, along with Daniel 12:5, is that Babylon's Judah will return to the city where Jesus was killed, after the Christ-followers have died of old age; and they, along with their 12k x 11 tribal mates, will understand all of these things. And the 144k will prophesy to their brethren, by praying cause the droughts &c., and be killed by the first beast.* At that time, the 42 months of Jacob's trouble will start. And blessed is he who lives through the 7 vials of the wrath of God.

I don't know where people get the idea that Matthew was wrong, but I don't have to know. Personally, I like the 42 generations, 42 years, and 42 months. But I'm fairly certain that most won't like David at 1174 BC. I look at the Bible as a chronicle that was added to by successive generations. I'm not married to the lists of names, most of which have no external evidentiary support.

What Jesus did, when He came unto His own world, was fix what was wrong.

* The second beast almost has to be the Pharisiacal Institution, given what Jesus says about them being ground to powder by the stone of stumbling. The first beast is International Organization. Both of these beasts will be given to the lake of brimstone; and they cannot be people, because all people will be judged at the white throne.
