Nine Pieces Of Evidence That Confirm The Historical Accuracy Of The Bible

That is because you have no education in things appertaining to the bible itself or the people whose lives have been changed.
As I said this is not about you or what you believe. Personal faith is about what and why I believe. It is like the joke about
God and the scientist. God tells the scientist to get his own soil. That should tell you it isn't my beliefs or what I know which
will do anything for you. But like myself you have take your own spiritual journey and make your own decisions. Because faith is
a personal journey and you cannot expect someone else to do it for you. If you want truth you will search, you will read and you
will discover or you will never do anything because you don't choose to.

No you didn't ask for facts. You have to get your own facts. Like I did mine.

I am not here to give you evidence nor to get it for you.
If you want to know if God exists then do as the bible tells you to find out.

There is no such thing as 'use to be a Christian' and as for looking, you would know if you had been a Christian
we can know things about others because of God and the Holy Spirit. Acts where ananias hid money from the selling of property.
You see being a christian is not a title it is a position of knowledge in Spirit and Truth.
Something your posts show you know absolutely zero about.

You may ask questions but in truth you still have your fingers in your ears and your eyes closed. You do not listen
and hence you will never have if you cannot seek and so find. I have not claimed anything that is not personal belief.
As I have no need to prove or wish to prove my faith to anyone because you have to get your own. If you had listened you
would not still be parroting the same things over and over again because you don't listen.

I don't have assertions because anyone can find what I have. YOUR JUST TO LAZY to look and want everyone to do it for you.
You do not deserve anyone to share or give your knowledge because you are too lazy to see what is under your nose.
You used an awful lot of words to say that you cannot demonstrate the veracity of your beliefs. All you have is faith that what you believe is true. Got it.

Sorry, but I fail to see how faith is a pathway to truth. Something I think you've demonstrated very well.

You're not the least bit believable. Pervo's revisionist theology sucks, as does Carrier and all those other liberal flakes you think are scholarly. You can trot those spiritual and Biblical lepers out all day and they won't make the smallest dent in the Gospel and New Testament truths about Jesus Christ.

"Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist--denying the Father and the Son." - 1 John 2:22

That makes it real clear who Pervo and Carrier and company are.

Bunch of ad-hom, no facts, no points? Then to make your post a notch more lame you use scripture?
"The bible is true because it says it's true"?
What Pervo and Carrier are makes no difference, what matters is that they are historians. I don't "think" they are "scholarly", they are PhD historians? So much denial and defensive name calling in one short post. Why don't you post some scripture for yourself about judgments.

OK. Here's an education for you on Judging:

God has commanded the church to make correct judgments:

John 7:24: “Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.”

Matthew 18:15-17: “If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses (note Deuteronomy 19:15). If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector .”

I Corinthians 6:4: “Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, appoint as judges even men of little account in the church.”

God commands us to judge according to one’s ‘fruits’:

Matthew 7:17-20: “Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit…..every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

The Saints of Christ will judge the world, and angels:

I Corinthians 6:2: “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?”

I Corinthians 6:3: “Do you not know that we will judge angels?”

Should no one ever be rebuked?

Jesus rebukes the teachers of the law and the Pharisees:

Matthew 23:27-28: “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.”

John the Baptist rebukes King Herod for adultery and other sins:

Luke 3:19: “But when John rebuked Herod the Tetrarch because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, and all the other things he had done, Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.”

Stephen rebukes the Jewish leaders:

Acts 7:51-53: “You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit! Was there ever a prophet your fathers did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him – you who have received the law that was put into effect through angels but have not obeyed it.”

God uses people to warn others to turn from their sin:

“When I say to the wicked, ‘You wicked person, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person to turn from their ways and they do not do so, they will die for their sin, though you yourself will be saved.” – Ezekiel 33

Also note all the Old Testament prophets who condemned sin and corrupt moral leadership, and who were persecuted for their discernment and duty.

But stay quiet, and evil will abound:

“The only thing required for evil to triumph is for good men to (say and) do nothing.” – Edmund Burke

The trial before the Sanhedrin

Jesus' trial before the Sanhedrin contains a number of procedural and legal errors. Each of the following details would have been in direct contradiction to Jewish law.

  • Mark's trial is at night. The Sanhedrin was forbidden to hold trials at night.
  • Mark's trial happens at the home of the high priest. The Sanhedrin was permitted to hold trials only in the Gazith Hall at the Temple.
  • Mark's trial is held on Passover. This is perhaps the greatest implausibility of the story. Jewish law absolutely forbid any such activity on high holy days or on the sabbath.
  • Jesus is given a death sentence immediately. Jewish law required that a death sentence could not be pronounced until 24 hours after the trial.
  • Mark has Jesus being convicted of blasphemy for claiming to be the Messiah:

Again the high priest asked him, 'Are you the Christ,[f] the Son of the Blessed One? 62 'I am, said Jesus. 'And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven. 63 The high priest tore his clothes. 'Why do we need any more witnesses? he asked. 64 'You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think? They all condemned him as worthy of death (Mk 14:61-64)

Claiming to be the Messiah was in no way blasphemous nor any violation of Jewish law. The Jewish Messiah was (and is) not God. There is no way that a person claiming to be the Messiah could have been convicted of blasphemy.

  • Shredding the Gospels: Contradictions, Errors, Mistakes, Fictions by Diogenes the Cynic

The Sanhedrin was corrupt. So of course they acted corruptly. They couldn't even find two honest witnesses to condemn Jesus, another corrupt act by the Sanhedrin. Most of those who condemned Jesus had the same kind of mindset as their forefathers who rebelled against God and killed their own prophets.

And then they condemned him for telling the truth - that he was indeed the Son of God.

You use a lot of subterfuge and self denial to hide the fact you will not deal with the reality of what people actually write in their post when it comes to you being put on the spot. Well the spot is getting bigger and you are still squirming. That is all you have demonstrated. A knack for sticking your fingers in your ears and closing your eyes when you are proven to be unable to deal or cope with the truth when put right in front of you. Subterfuge and denial does not make it go away. All you have demonstrated is your brain washing and most of it done by yourself. Oh and the inability to argue anything you cannot answer for yourself when put on the spot. EVERYONE can see it, it is not going away.

In the case of Christ they did because it was unofficial and off the record. It is also a fact that the Sanhedrin could not sentence Christ to death so they had to push the romans to do it.

You guys come up with a lot of weird claims.

You can call it "weird" but it's facts demonstrated over and over by scholars and the work is peer-reviewed.

From video

"it's long been known, mainstream scholars, tons of peer-reviewed literature have established this that a lot of the stories about Jesus are really stories about Moses that have been updated.
Like Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story."

followed by concrete examples of how the writers used Moses to write the Jesus story.
Mark was deliberately writing a decalogue of 10 miracles Jesus did 2 pairs of 5, it's the 10 commandments reified into miracles.

God has commanded the church to make correct judgments:

John 7:24: “Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.”

Lesson? Excellent lesson in how to cherry pick scripture to suit one's needs and a great set up for demonstrating the Bible s full of contradictions and has no idea what it wants to say.

Judge not.
Jesus commanded his disciples not to judge. Judge not, that ye be not judged. Matthew 7:1
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged. Luke 6:37

And Paul seemed to agree with Jesus on that. (In his epistle to the Romans, anyway.) Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. Romans 2:1
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Romans 14:10

As did the author of James. Who art thou that judgest another? James 4:12

Matthew 7:2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged:

Matthew 7:3
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye,
but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Matthew 7:4
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the
mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Matthew 7:5
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

You post all that scripture and you don't even know that there are plenty of anti-judgemental passages as well?

Now we have something actually weird. There is no evidence they could actually hold trials when and where they could not hold them? It only says they produced bad evidence. The mistakes are simply mistakes by Mark as he was unfamiliar with Jewish custom.

Of course the god-man being tried as a man would face a bad jury and corrupt evidence would be presented. This is exactly how one would write a mythical tale of a demi-god.

There was night and council the next day and there are slight contradictions as well among different accounts. It wasn't "off record" either because scribes were there.

At the bottom of the page all accounts are compared:

  1. Lazarus, not John, was the disciple whom Jesus loved ...
    www.alanrudnick.org/2017/04/13/john-was-not-the-disciple-whom-jesus-loved
    Lazarus
, not John, was the disciple whom Jesus loved. Traditionally, John the Gospel writer was the disciple whom Jesus loved. However, upon closer study, there is another follower of Jesus that is a stronger candidate that you have likely not considered: Lazarus.

  2. Disciple Jesus Loved Lazarus - Jesus Christ
    https://www.allaboutjesuschrist.org/disciple-jesus-loved-lazarus-faq.htm
Disciple Jesus Loved Lazarus. Later, Peter and the unnamed disciple enter at “the palace of the high priest” (John 18:15-17), but while Peter leaves after denying Jesus three times, we only see the one “whom Jesus loved” leave after he is given another charge by Jesus -- when he leaves the foot of the cross with Jesus’ mother (John 19:27-29).

Nice theory. The historical Gospels tell the real story.
