The future of religion:

KelseyR

The eternal optimist!
I predict that all of the current religions will wither and die over the next 200 years. They will be replaced by one uniting belief: a new order of religion that is fully nature-based instead of magical (supernatural). The idea of eternal life of worthwhile nature will be flawlessly reasoned and mankind will enjoy a new sense of purpose. I promise!

How do I know it will happen? I'm privy to how it will be done. 2020 is when it begins. Call BS if you want. IDC!

===================================================================================

I will neither answer questions nor respond to replies. I will say that you can forget all of those PEW projections. They don't account for the introduction of a dark horse or the increasingly viral nature of information sharing.

In reading your responses I see several themes suggesting intellectual sloth:
1) Zero interest in how something this grand and visionary might be proved
2) Preference to say it cannot be done- or reversion to magical explanations
3) An instance where unlikely is equated to impossible; this lame theist trick

Lastly, do not suggest that I miss the point of debating. I provided this topic.

Actually if statistics are correct, Islam will be the world's dominant faith and like Christianity will have erect progressive interpretations of the faith from conservative. I don't see this trend declining perhaps in the year 3000 this will change but not any time soon.

I predict it will happen sooner than within the next 200 years.

Of course this starts the Apocalypse in Christianity.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-9 kjv

5 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

So obviously you are not speaking of Christianity in your post.

So what is ths name of this religion that will overtake all religions?

How are you privy to this knowlesge of the future? Does this religion have a holy book that gave you this knowledge? Or did you have a vision or prophecy of some kind?

2020 is when it begins.
Seems you're hearing our subconscious, was busy posting a thread on uniting the religions to create a better understanding, and then reloaded the forum to see you'd posted the same thing.

It is possible to unite the religions under a single much more advanced banner, with the Messiah actually forefronting the idea...

Otherwise there is no way to remove the old, without first allowing the new to come to fruition first; then from the growth, it allows fresh natural growth.

In my opinion. :innocent:

I'm guessing a white horse.

My faith in Buddhism is unshakable so I have no doubt I will remain Buddhist no matter what happens.

If what she says was to come to fruition then you'd be forced to or die. That's the only options. I feel like we both have the same answer to that question despite being different religions.

Then I would die. because no human being can dictate what I should believe or not :)

Though we walk different paths we are of the same mind (well close enough)!
When doubt has been removed from the mind there is nobody who can take away the wisdom in the path we follow. Yes, we are on different paths but I understand you have the wisdom of what a path really is about :)

The other side of our post was thinking to make, was a list of where the dividing of individual religious labels, are literally about to endorse World War 3...

Faith means to have trust; we don't put trust in a religion, yet in the Dharma - which is the natural Way from the Source, it needs no labels.

Thus Yeshua, Lao Tzu, Krishna, David, Muhammad, Buddha, etc, all taught the Way, the problem is religious leaders make it an organization, which ruins the natural flow of it all as One.

When we reject different pathways up the mountain of Dharma, each blindside causes us to have shadows, that will then manifest to make us see our divisions.

Would you let the "angel of doubt" exist at all.

I do agree with you on the label of each religion is not needed, and as you say it is dhamma that is the true teaching for those who follow Buddha. But I found that many do get unsure when using the word dhamma instead of Buddhism.

And I think you know that I used the mountain as a reference in my posts before, that there is one ultimate truth but there are different paths to this truth. There is nothing wrong to use words like Buddhist, Hinduist, Christian, Jew and so on.

I am expecting to see the Baha'i Faith to emerge from obscurity in the next few years, 2020 would be great. What are some of your thoughts, or visions?

There is nothing wrong to use words like Buddhist, Hinduist, Christian, Jew and so on.
Actually each label is a definition of hypocrisy somewhere:
  • A Buddhist & Hindu reject the Dharma from Christ, who was an avatar from the divine.
  • A Christian follows the Pharisees John, Paul, and Simon, whilst rejecting the teachings from Christ.
  • A Rabbinic Jew rejects Christ by definition.
  • And so on...
Each is in someway contrary to the truth, due to their own stubbornness to Oneness...

If they accepted the whole, they'd see there is only One picture; yet due to each finding divide somewhere, the world is on the verge of WW3.

In my opinion. :innocent:

Thus instead of hope for an end of religious labels like the OP suggested, people hoping that one religion rises above the rest, is the reason we're on the verge of WW3.

In 200 years there will be a country where the school system is efficient, so people will only need 5 years of schooling instead of 12. They will understand scripture of all kinds very well and with ease, but they will primarily be concerned with History. They'll doubt some events in History and all of our stories and worry that someone has altered them. They'll look for patterns and secrets, and they'll endlessly argue about it. The things most people don't read today they'll have read, thought about and integrated. With skill some of them will even be able to predict some things about the future by their deep understanding of History.

As a cultivator of dhamma, I do not reject any of the other paths. But to make it more easy for those who do not know a lot about what cultivation is, I tend to use Buddhism or Theravada as a word to describe the path. Yes, Buddha Sakyamuni did call it Dhamma and not Buddhism, but when Buddhism becomes a religion they named it Buddhism, but it is still the teaching of Buddha.
It boils down to the inner wisdom of what a path truly is. And Buddha did teach a path to Nibbana/Nirvana.

The difference in the paths we today call Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and so on, is the level they were taught in.

I can not see what level of enlightenment you have reached or if you are enlightened. But for each person who chooses to walk a path of spiritual life, reach different wisdom levels, and when a cultivation path become scaled down to a belief system (religion) there is a lot of wisdom taken away from the true teaching. So it makes it even harder for someone to gain enlightenment.

When one sees the single point of truth (oneness as you call it) one is close to the full truth. But 99% of the people are not on that level of wisdom, and can not see it. they see the different paths as competing paths to their own belief, and thereby the war of religions do happens.

It is easier for a person to make a critique of others then it is to critique oneself to become wiser

That is because one has not yet understood what Baha'u'llah offered.

Names are not a barrier to our One God.
