Not riled up at all. Your reading into it too much.

As far as Vegans go. Not much can surprise me these days. Hardly anyone is honest and upfront. Just about everyone is a liar and hypocrite these days.

Not to digress, but there is a lot that bothers me about vegans.

Vegans don't bother me unless they start judging me for liking meat. I fully respect anyone that's able to adhere to a vegan diet. I tried it myself once, because I love lentil beans/soup. Which is a big part of a Vegan diet for protein. I can deal without meat so long as I have beans etc. What I couldn't live without is the bread, mostly, and bacon!

A lot of it is to do with herd mentality and tribalism. Let's take John Doe for example. He watches porn, but he goes to church etc. Well if his church gets all up in arms about porn he will go with the herd vs going against it. Or else be cast out for not adhering to the group think. That's a hypothetical situation btw.

And that I believe is what happening here based on the actual limited data provided in the article.

You have a small % of religious folk that openly condemn porn, due to the herd, but privately support/consume it. That's why this shows up. Imo

The bible condemns masturbation, lusting for anything other than ones spouse, etc. The pastors are going to preach this, but most Christians are nominal and live the same sinful lives as everyone else. The difference is that, unlike the dirty unbelievers, they show up to church Sunday, say "amen" to the sermon, and then pray it all away. Rince and repeat.

I don't have a problem with vegan diets nor with the ethical reasoning behind it. I can respect that. What I don't like is the elitism and sanctimony that only serves to garner a nasty reputation rather than converts, and obnoxious publicity stunts that only cause people to double-down on meat consumption.

Someone @ me if the conversation goes from this:

To this:

I mean, because I like world peace, and prefer a different brand of cough medicine. Obviously.

Please don't tell me they're consuming more coke and getting more hookers.

It's a little more complicated and complex than that, but you're not entirely wrong. The whole purpose of being a Christian is because we are NOT perfect. But I understand how you see it as hypocritical. Of course I don't show up for church on Sunday, I rarely attend these days, maybe twice a year? Especially during revival (lots of good home cooking!).

Do American States with More Religious or Conservative Populations Search More for Sexual Content on Google?

Interesting research on the areas of the country that tend to view and/or download and/or make more homemade porn videos.

"Alternative explanations (e.g., that opposition to non-traditional sex in right-leaning states leads liberals to rely on private internet sexual activity) are discussed, as are limitations to inference posed by aggregate data more generally."

hmmm...

This could be true, and if so it represents a lot of people testing to see if God will react.

Another possibility is that most of the porn seeking is not by the religious groups. We don't know, because the study can't determine it.

It could be that that data is skewed due to all of these new virtual tunnels and tor which let people from around the world use computer exit points in these states to secretly view porn. For example if you're a teenager, and you don't want your activities detected between you and your mom's internet provider which is set up to report porn surfing you might use a virtual tunnel that surfaces in, say, Missouri. In that case you raise the number of porn searches in Missouri despite your living in...I don't know maybe Greenland. We can blame it on them.

No one said that it was an "issue", but rather an interesting observation (wouldn't you find it peculiar if it turned out that the biggest consumers of steak was vegans?). For a "nothing burger" you're getting awfully riled up over it.

Have-been carnivores might just be the biggest consumers of the impossible burger, which has a plant-based patty practically indistinguishable from a beef patty. Please support our soy bean farmers along with our environment, have an impossible burger that'll soon be available at a Burger King near you.

I already like veggie burgers, and have been curious about this one.
