What year is it today?

View attachment 28998

I wonder why is it so?
Do you think Mohammad has something to do with this?
This is, again, a belief. Have you anything to tell me that Jesus verifiably did? Because he didn't create this stupid unnecessary calendar and bce/ce division. By the way, for the Jewish people it is 5779 and the Muslims have their own calendar too.

Tell me what Jesus did that both Christian and non-Christians can agree earns him his place in history.

What Did Jesus Actually Do?

Discussion in 'Religious Debates' started by Rival, Friday at 10:40 PM.

Answer: He did not marry. He awaits his bride, his Church on Judgement Day.

What Did Muhammad Actually Do?

Answer: He had 11 wives. I don't know if you call that an achievement. Having one wife is one wife too many.:(

He united the Arabian tribes and turned them to monotheism. Pretty big and noticeable achievement.

Yeah right.

When people write a check they would include the date.
When people write letters, it is necessary to include the date.
Even magazines would indicate a date.

I wonder what Muslims write as the YEAR?
And I wonder where that YEAR came from?

I am tiring of you very fast.

Tell me what Jesus did.

Because Jesus did not invent this calendar.

For Jews it is the year 5779. For Muslims it is 1440.

Uhuh....

How did he accomplish that?
Was it through charity?
through kindness?
Perhaps miracles?
Living a moral and holy life, despite of having 11 wives?
Leadership by example?

Oh wait....

The reason why the universe was made was because of Jesus Christ.
Did not make that up.
It is written in the Bible - which I believe Baha'i also read.

Living a moral and holy life, despite of having 11 wives?
Leadership by example?

He had one wife (Khadija) throughout the majority of his life, with that wife he had produced his only progeny that survived into adulthood (his daughter who is the mother of our Imams). After the death of Khadija, he got into some situations that required peacekeeping through marriage and he acquired 11 wives over that period which he wasn't romantically or sexually involved with.

Yes, leadership is also a major achievement of his as a Prophet.

How come he can have 11 wives and ordinary Muslim only gets 4?
Anyway, who wants to be married at these cost of living, right?
Leadership....makes a man.
The Alpha dog.
The top honcho.
The king of the pack.
Polygamy rules!
Yeah!

Even that's a stretch. You say it as if it just rolls off the tongue but the ordinary Muslim can only have 1 under usual circumstances but if the situation meets, they can have up to 4 (it's not like a smorgasbord either....................................)

In modern day marriage, those other 11 wives would hardly even account as partners in any real sense aside from legalities. But if it's your thing MjFlores, why don't you try and top it yourself? 20 wives? 50 wives? :D

Anyway, who wants to be married at these cost of living, right?

Now you're talkin! :D

Oh my golly.
Having more than one wife would be a nightmare.
Having 20 to 50 wives is a crime
Being married to 2 wives is bigamy how much more with 11
and one of them is 9 years old?

Bull****. Aisha was between 15 and 17 at the youngest. It's a fantasy some people have (hopefully you're only mistaken in good faith and not another *******), of her being that young but it contradicts the rest of Islamic history, as well as the Qur'an's stance on it, let alone that those Hadiths are weak (if you know anything about how Hadiths work.....)

lots of asterisk there!
15 to 17?
Still a minor.

I don't know about your Quran or Hadiths
But I have watch videos of former Muslims
at YouTube and scanned the web about this things.
It is really entertaining, than scandalous

It is water under the bridge.
I don't blame Muhammad if he has chosen a polygamous life.
Hey, even Joseph Smith the founder of the Mormon has more wives than Muhammad

upload_2019-5-13_18-6-15.jpeg

Mormon church polygamy: Joseph Smith 'had up to 40 wives' The Mormon church has said for the first time that its founder Joseph Smith had up to 40 wives. In an essay published on its website quoting "careful estimates", the church said the wives included a 14-year-old and others who were already married.

It’s Official: Mormon Founder Had Up to 40 Wives

So Joseph Smith beat Muhammad in the number of wives, hands down.

Whether a founder of a religion has a never ending libido
It is his business

And their examples should not be imitated
Being married to a 9 year old - please don't do that!
Being married to a 14-17 year old - pretty much a minor - please don't do that!
Having more than one wife - please don't do that!

You want to follow Muhammad or Joseph Smith?
Expect these guys to drop around soon.

That’s free will. People have the choice of obeying or disobeying and God leaves us to learn from our mistakes. I think we have learned a lot but there’s still a lot more to learn.
So true.
You would think we could have learned everything by now, but people think they know best, so must make the same mistakes as their ancestors. Over and over again.

He's the only person who we can't even say if he actually existed or not as someone of any historic reality that has had such massive and widespread impact on human society. Muhammad had a pretty big impact, but we know he definitely did exist. At, when it comes to Jesus, all we can do is assume someone probably did exist who was the basis of the Christian mythos. After all, we've seen it plenty of times in modern days that those who speak of peace often dying in unpeaceful ways.

<sigh>

I wish folks like you would do your homework. Here's some recommended reading with tons of evidence that Jesus did indeed exist.

"The Historical Jesus," by scholar Dr. Gary Habermas;
"The Historical Jesus of the Gospels," by Dr. Craig Keener
"New Evidence that Demands a Verdict," by former skeptic Josh McDowell;
"Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics," by Dr. Norman Geisler;
"The Case for Christ," by Lee Strobel," and
"The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus," by Dr. Gary Habermas.

There’s just no case here I believe for such an assertion or assumption.

Jesus influenced entire civilisations thousands of years after His death and billions of lives even to the present day model their lives on His Holy Words recorded in the Gospels by His disviples who were first hand witnesses to His Words and talks.

The Gospels are proof alone.

Added to this we have Three subsequent Prophets of God since Jesus Who all revealed a Holy Book and Writings which testify to the Reality of Jesus.

Muhammad - the Quran

The Bab His Writings

Baha’u’llah dozens of tributes to Jesus.

The only evidence of his existence is a handful of people wrote about him, decades after his alleged death (and, remarkably, none while he lived which is a point of interest). At best we can say there probably was someone who did actually live who inspired the Christian mythos. Not many scholars doubt it. But plausibly existing isn't concrete evidence he did.
