I spent 20 years in the ME.. I like them..

You could start by NOT listening to the hate mongers like Horowitz, Spencer, Brigitte Gabriel and all those other clots with Jihad Watch.

I evaluate claims.

Islam is no more dangerous than christianity. What is dangerous is the fundimentalists who use the faith to justify murder and genocide

And they are prevalent in any religion

Consider that in parts of africa christian malitia's are still mutilating, killing and raping (often in that order) non christians.

However, Islam's danger is built in, as the Quran constantly denigrates non Muslims and calls for their subjugation.

That's absolute nonsense.

David Horowitz grew up a "red diaper baby" in a communist community in Sunnyside, Queens. He studied literature at Columbia, taking classes from Lionel Trilling, and became a "new leftist" during the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956.

Has he threatened anyone with terror?

If Islam gets its way we will not be able to listen to them so take advantage of their knowledge while you can.

The problems in the Arab world are more a result of haves versus have nots. Healthcare, education and clean water.. arable land are the issues. The terrorists tend to be drug addled gangs of the unemployed.

Your internet expertise is based on bad stuff that makes the headlines.
Generalizations are tempting. It is tempting to believe that all religions try to obtain the same goals, but maybe they don't.

What do you think of the Taliban in Afghanistan? What are the Taliban doing that contradicts the Koran or Muhammad? It seems like that is what guides them in what they are doing to oppose women's education. Why should they compromise? What religions reasons do they have to allow women to become educated, and why shouldn't they restrict that education through harsh means?

Here is why the USA is involved as I understand it: Afghanistan became an interest of the USSR, because the USA had an interest in Israel. Then due to Charlie Wilson the USA backed those in Afghanistan who were fighting the USSR, and this helped end our 'Cold war' with the USSR. Unfortunately Afghanistan was never the same after its long war-torn period, and many men began to decide that they should be taking their Koran and Muhammad more seriously. They began to oppose the education of women, etc. No longer would they compromise. There was internal conflict within the country, and our diplomats got involved. Now they don't know what to do.

So what happened that made the predominantly Christian West better since then?

Is it really better with the highest gun related deaths in the world far exceeding the deaths from terrorism? I would never visit USA with all the gun violence there.

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
About half the world's Muslims want Sharia. I don't view them as extremists. I view Islam as dangerously outdated.
Yes, you keep claiming that. The part you seem loathe to accept is that sharia isn't the "cutting everyone's heads off" strawman version the fear mongers like to portray it as. As we've been over repeatedly, Muslims wanting sharia is no more sinister than Jews wanting Rabbinical courts, or Catholics wanting canon law.

Maybe you should read it before making such claims. Of course, instead of doing that, I eagerly await your cherry picked out of context passages from some hate site that you'll post instead.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I don't care much about religion.
I'm not against any religion, don't get me wrong.
I even believe religious people (Christians mainly because I grew up among them) are good people. They seem to be genuinely loving people.
I cannot speak much about other religions on a personal level because I don't make many friends that are not Christians or Atheists. Not my choice, it just happens that way.
Like many people, I have spent many hours researching on Islam after 9/11 happened.
I live in New York City so that was very close to me.
My research findings tell me Islam is a very dangerous religion.
The closer Islam gets to you the more dangerous it gets.
That seems to be a fact.
I know that Muslims are going to ask me to prove it from the scriptures and that is a ridiculous request.
There are 52 or 53 Muslim countries in the world and I can assure you that any of them has some sort of religious tension, wars or religious related violence in them.
I can quickly come up with links to prove it.
Most of the world is still Christian majority and today you rarely will find religion related violence in them.
The question is why?
Is there any hope that this pattern is going to change?
Is there some kind of Islamic reform possible?
Is war against Islam inevitable?
It's obviously religion based radicalism that's actually dangerous.

I'm not personally familiar with Muslims, but I've learned a great deal about Islam from the website wiki Islam. Sharia Law might have been useful for ancient nomadic tribal communities, but Islamic Law nowadays is detrimental to modern day societies.

You could also visit Muslim websites or is it that they don’t support your bias that you consult anti Muslim websites?

If you do a proper investigation you’ll find that the problem lies not with the Quran but with the leaders of religion. It was Christian leaders who promoted wars not Jesus. It is some evil minded Mullas who promote terrorism not the Quran.

Do you really think religious leaders are all in tune with their Holy Writings? Look at all the child sexual abuse cases worldwide and the number of priests jailed. Where’s religion in that?

Jesus and Muhammad taught virtues, love, forgiveness, peace and unity not what some of these leaders teach.

There are NO verses in the Quran which support murder of innocents. All that is permitted is to defend oneself if attacked first.See Sura 2:190

Hadiths are not the Word of God and they are false if they contradict the Quran. Hundreds of thousands of falsified Hadiths have been destroyed because they are unreliable. But the Quran was compiled over 23 years during the lifetime of Muhammad and is authentic. And both Sunni and Shia agree on the Quran. But stories are not facts.

That's your projection. As it turns out, that's not my concern about Sharia. My concern about Sharia is that it runs counter to several key aspects of modern human rights.

That’s strange! This quote in the Quran says the exact opposite.!

2:62
Verily, they who believe (Muslims), and they who follow the Jewish religion, and the Christians, and the Sabeites–whoever of these believeth in God and the last day, and doeth that which is right, shall have their reward with their Lord: fear shall not come upon them, neither shall they be grieved.

I HAVE read it, and @Looncall 's assessment seems spot on.

Have YOU read it? And if so, can you explain away the literally HUNDREDS of times that the book disparages non-Muslims?
