believers are not so smart
and atheists are psychopaths

dropping the down side to each item above.....

believing in Something Greater might be smart
caring for this life AND the next

not believing in Something Greater seems driven by apathy
no reason to care of Something Greater if you cannot support the idea with a physical proving

I say....God might not give a damn
but then again.....maybe He will

Having Asperger's, my brain is wired primarily to think logically.
To me, religion, gods, after all, they are all needless emotional baggage, bells, and whistles that are not needed to get through life.
And, eventually for me it did go into apathy because there are better things to focus on in life, greater things to be concerned about, and ultimately there is no compelling evidence towards theism or atheism.

You are assuming, here, that atheism means not caring about anything 'greater than' one's self. And I don't see this to be the case. I think most atheists care about their ideals, and other people, just as much as any theist does. They just don't accept the proposition that gods are part of their existence.

One can believe whatever the decide on. Reality doesn't give a damn about belief, just keep that in mind.

Personally I feel, that our choices depend more on feelings than logic. Usually we have a feeling about what are right and wrong choices. After the fact, we try to use logic to justify those feelings.

Feelings are our bias and that is likely the hidden part of our "logical" choices.

Intelligence is whatever. You have whatever intelligence you have and make the best of it. I accept there are plenty of people out there smarter than me and maybe a few not quite as smart. So what? I'm still going to go through life making what I see as the right choices to the best of my ability.

Being less intelligent doesn't necessarily mean you make all bad choices, just means it may take you a little longer than others to make the right choice. Also coming coming to a quicker, logical choice doesn't necessarily mean it is the right choice.

The goal IMO is to be happy. This doesn't mean you have to be right all of the time. You just need to be right often enough to be happy. As long as a person can be happy in life, it doesn't really matter how smart they are.

And maybe He does not exist. For psychopathy does not entail being wrong. Even assuming that atheists are psychopaths.

Anyway, if believers are not so smart and atheists are psychopaths, then it follows that smartness entails psychopathy. By pure logical reasons.

What you actually believe doesn't matter. Half the time, what you say you believe has no impact on what you do.
Religion is a philosophy of life and what to expect upon death. Hence Atheism is a religion.
What really matters is the impact you have on other people, ie. humanism.

Loving God and my neighbor as myself.
Although my empathy level is extremely high, I would say that logic is also important. This is because compassion tends to be shortsighted. There are simply some situations that require a long term compassion and a short term compassion actually does a person harm in the long term -- and logic is necessary to see this. Also, many problems in life simply have nothing to do with putting one's self in another's shoes. If I'm coming up with projections for next quarter's sales, what does empathy to do with this?

IOW, a healthy person has a good balance of thinking and feeling, intuition and reasoning, despite the fact that we may be better at one than the other.

No. Wisdom (prajnana in Sanskrit) can guide intellect to avoid the pitfalls of egoistic smart, if allowed.

Data shows:
  • Believers score average 2-3 points less on IQ scale.
  • Atheists in general score low on empathy.
The above is sans interpretation.

believing in Something Greater might be smart
caring for this life AND the next

IQ is not the sole criteria of true smartness. The ability to see that ego self is not sovereign is, imo, first step to wisdom.

not believing in Something Greater seems driven by apathy
no reason to care of Something Greater if you cannot support the idea with a physical proving

Clinging to the notion “I am this body”, imo, is conducive ground for giving rise to apathy and psychopathy.

Atheism is most definitely not a religion.

I've thus far refrained from killing or causing serious harm to others. Does that count?
Don't Evangelical Atheists count?
That's a good start. Have you found someone to love?

Assuming you mean something like "new atheists," I wouldn't call them religious but dogmatic, and to quote some atheist I can't remember, "they're doing atheism wrong."
I was thinking of people like Richard Dawkins.
