If Dems take house and Senate

If Dems take house and Senate in 2020 we will have our impeachment in 2020 if Trump is reelected. So noone has said anything about the House and Senate in the future, that would be another way to get around it.

Seems like a waste of time, focus and effort. Perhaps I misunderstand your system a little, though.

@Riders, stop and think.
If you think the Democrats will take control of the Senate and remain in control of the House after the 2020 election why do you think President Trump would win the Presidency?

After the failure of the democratic party and the embarrassment of chasing imaginary collusion charges for the past 3 years I think winning the any seats at all in the house or Senate is a pipe dream, let alone taking control or having a shot at the winning the Presidency.

If they stopped all shenanigans right now. Righted the ship and focused on solving real problems they might have something beyond 2020. But right now, Dems have thrown away all legitimacy for any real shot on 2020 at anything.

It is an unlikely scenario. It would only work if a lot of Trump voters voted for Democratic Senator or maybe didn’t vote for a Senator. That is not going to happen.

You will either gat a Republican President with a Republican Senator, or hopefully a Democrat President and a Democrat Senate.

All of the House is up for reelection in 2020. For the Senate 34 seats are up for reelection; 22 Rep, 12 Dems. Dems would need to win their 12 plus flip 20 GOP seats to get what the OP wants. The two independent Senators vote with the Dems. Impeachment requiring 2/3 majority to pass the Senate so 67 votes. While it is possible it is unlikely as the GOP seats up are mostly in GOP bastion states.

The above is based on party voting habits. The GOP could flip if the GOP's own views of Trump changes to the point they want him out. Or if there is a smoking gun type case.

Thanks. That matches with what I thought!! Maybe my US politics is less rusty than I thought.
The GOP flipping seems highly unlikely in the degree that would be required, based on the evidence I'm aware of. Just my opinion though.

I do not see it myself. For one people need to consider that not everyone is going to vote based on a single issue of Trump. It would be conceding long term power over law for a short term goal. Limited party systems at times force people to vote for a party that is not fully representative of their individual views just to stop the other party from gain power. This is one of those cases in my view especially when one tosses in POTUS nominations and policy which are not separate from the Congressional side of the parties.
