Slavery was common and widespread, there was no protection or recognition of civilians and non-combatants during war, it was hit-or-miss when it came to women's rights, and things like "free speech" and "freedom of religion" did not exist and often contradicted established laws. "Eye for an eye" was more commonly practiced, you were typically guilty until proven innocent (if you could even prove it), children did not have much for protections and childhood ended around the onset of puberty. There are good examples from that time, but overall I do not see many examples of superior morality. Today we at least resort to sport and movies for violent entertainment instead of blood sports. Though we may say "modern Colosseum," this concept is not leaving people (typically slaves) horribly maimed, disfigured, and dead, nor are there mountains of animal corpses involved.

Yes, agree Jesus used 'Caesar ' as the ' guy in charge ' so that we can also know the 'Caesar' of any time period would be the ' guy in charge ', so to speak.
I did Not deliberately avoid but any one who practices fornication and/or adultery is adversely judged in God's eyes.
Of course, Christians would be hated for Not practicing fornication (porneia) that stands to reason.
Also, being neutral in world affairs, it also stands to reason, why Christians are hated.

ceasar was killed before jc was a twinkle in gods eye. You may refer to any boss as ceasar, thay does not mean others know that you are being allegorical.

??? You think christians are hated for being straight laced? You dont know many christians. Many of those i know of are true perverts... But it ok, god is on their side

Wedlock ' whether it is religious or secular ' is recognized by God. No clergy needed to officiate.
To me there is a BIG difference between control and regulate.
The world sometimes recognizes that it is best for a child to have both parents.
Poverty also exists because of lack of child support, especially on the father's part.
Jesus said poverty would be with us until the ' second coming '.
What we can do is what the neighborly good Samaritan did.
We are to broaden out, or widen out in showing practical love to help on a one-on-one basis as needed.
We don't need thanks for charitable work because our Heavenly Father will repay as per Matthew 6:1-4

Tomorrow, just got in from a long journey, i am tired. Goodnight

There were many 'Caesars', and please see Matthew 22:17-21.
I did Not say hated because of being ' straight laced ' but for adhering to Bible standards, Bible principles.
The 'perverts ' (true or otherwise ) who are part of Christendom are Not favored by God.
True, or genuine ' wheat ' Christians follow what is recorded at 1 Corinthians 5:9-13.
So, definitely God is Not on their side.
They are a reason why Christendom ( so-called Christian ) will be the first to be a target by the political world.

Your belief in your god and your unerring knowledge of your gods beliefs (which coincidentally match your own beliefs) are totally irrelevant to other people.

What business is it of priest to regulate?

I agree with you on the fathers often shirked responsibility. However it is a long way short of the complete story.

Jesus is supposed to have said a lot of things... Still waiting.

There is no need for religion to help others, all that us needed is compassion and i have seen that in animals.

You should tell that to joe bloggs who set up "the joe bloggs" (or whatever) christian hospital wing.

I and many others dont need a heavenly father to divvy up after we are dead. All we need is compassion and the personal knowledge we have done a good job

There was only 1 that the bible says jc spoke about. Julius Ceasar. The following emperor's we're not ceasar in name but adopted the title...

Adherence to the bible standard is straight laced

And once again you appear to know your gods thoughts. I thought this guy was sold as a compassionate and caring god?

Targeted? Try being a muslim in the western world or a hindu in parts of the muslim world.

I never said it is the business of a priest to regulate, rather No matter who officiates (religious or secular) that marriage is recognized by God as binding.

Right, Jesus' illustrative story about the neighborly good Samaritan shows No need for religion to help others.
Jesus never said to set up a Christian hospital wing. joe bloggs is just making a name for himself.
The story about the good Samaritan shows we should all widen out, or broaden out, in helping someone in distress on a one-on-one basis in their time of tribulation regardless of who they are. Even an atheist can be a good Samaritan.
There is No divvy up after death, there is only ' sleep ' after death - John 11:11-14; Psalms 115:17; Psalms 146:4
The dead know nothing according to Ecclesiastes 9:5, thus the dead know nothing but restful sleep. ZZZZzzzz.
What there is, is the coming joyous resurrection of being happily re-united with dead loved ones during Jesus' 1,000-year governmental rule over Earth. Resurrection as mentioned at Acts of the Apostles 24:15.

I find God's Son Christ Jesus is compassionate and caring.
Jesus' compassionate and caring God gave Jesus the power of the resurrection - Revelation 1:18.

The United Nations does see a hauntingly dangerous religious climate brewing in today's world.
Terrorism has placed hate-filled religion on the map, so to speak.
Since judgement (spiritual house cleaning) will start with the ' House of God ', so then Christendom ( so-called Christian but mostly in name only ) will be the first target because she claims to folllow the God of the Bible - 1 Peter 4:17

Which way to the woods?
Has mankind lost morality? When this word morality are spoken about, why do so many people get aggresive and want to blame the one who ask?

To put it simply, ethics consist of the moral code, or philosophy, that guides a person’s choices and behaviors throughout their life. The idea of a moral philosophy extends beyond the individual to include what is right (and what is wrong) for the community and society at large. Ethics is concerned with rights, responsibilities, use of language, what it means to live an ethical life and how people make moral decisions.
So what is your question. You started to ask something and then just posted a cooy/paste statement from somewhere.

What is it you want to understand about morality? This isn't the first time you have brought up the topic. What is still missing that you do not understand ?

I find Jesus was talking about making ' personal judgements '
After all, God's judgement on matters is already recorded in Scripture.
Jesus did Not pass any adverse judgement on God's judgement, but about making personal opinions.
In other words, we are Not to judge by imputing a bad or wrong motive to another.

First, before Jesus would come again as Messiah, all applying Scripture would have to be fulfilled.
This brings us back to the issue raised in the book of Job.
Satan Not only challenged Job but included us.
At Job 2:4-5, Satan challenges all of us that ' touch our flesh..' (loose physical health) and we would Not serve God under such adverse or sick conditions.
Remember: under Christ all sickness will be reversed and we won't have to recall such adverse conditions.
Mankind will see the return of the ' Tree of Life ' that originally was in the Garden of Eden.
The tree of everlasting life. Once Adam sinned he No longer had access to the tree of life.
Through Christ's coming 1,000-year governmental rule over Earth mankind will see the return of the ' Tree of Life'.
As Revelation 22:2 says there will be ' healing ' for earth's nations ( includes healing leukemia )
No one will say, " I am sick..." according to Isaiah 33:24.
This is because even ' enemy death ' will be No more on Earth - 1 Corinthians 15:26; Isaiah 25:8
Notice how healthy we will be according to Isaiah 35th chapter word picture is for us.
The resurrection will re-unite loved ones with happy-and-healthy bodies of sound mind and heart forever.

I see morality and ethics from a buddhist way of thinking, but often when the word moral or morality is in a question, to me it seem like people back away or some even get angry because people like my self dare to speak of morality. My question is, more directly asked. Why are so many people "afraid" of discussing moral seen from a spiritual point of view?

Sound like apologetics to me, to get around something that is obviously unpopular that the bible bible claims jesus said.

Hmm. I am not sure about that. I don't know if people are "afraid" to discuss morality from a spiritual view. Maybe it raises questions about what is the very basis and origin of how all humans treat each other and how they behave? The very basis of religion is that God or gods are thought to be the only way humans can learn to get along and treat each other with dignity and compassion. God's purpose is to teach moralistic behavior towards their fellow humans and themselves. What happens when different people come along who do treat others with compassion and do live their lives in a morally accepted and humane manner but they do not believe in religions or gods?

Does that put into question the very basis of belief in God and the purpose of god(s)?

It might cause some discomfort and confusion in long held religious ideas and maybe fear that what some perceive to be the origin of morals ie. "right and wrong" may not be dependent on Gods or religion?

In Scripture we learn that, unless damaged, we are all born with an in-born compass aka conscience.
Thus, because mankind comes equipped with a conscience is why there are morals ie ' right and wrong '.
So, it is up to each person to choose to listen to one's conscience or not.
An ignored conscience can become so hardened to the point of being calloused and having no more feeling.
- Romans 2:14-15.

Not just what is recorded about Jesus, but that the human judges at Psalms 82 were to use God's judgement to judge between what was right and what was wrong according to Law.
Like Jesus, that was Not about making personal judgements, or personal opinions.
We don't judge motives, that is in the hands of the one mentioned at Matthew 25:31-33.
After all, we can't read hearts (innermost person) but such judging is left up to Jesus.

Yes, and it has been studied quite a bit in babies and young children showing their instinctive moral compass. So unless they are not brought up with compassion and further guidance as they grow or have been damaged in some way as you mentioned, they most likely will grow into morally responsible adults. Some more so than others depending on what they choose to believe as adults.

But where does that leave God as far as the purpose of having or believing in one?

I dont know about christians, most seem to have problems understanding this:-

1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Personally i take it as written.
