So, What Happened, Jesus?

It's not been fulfilled....yet.

The generation spoken of refers to the Parable of the Fig Tree. Which you posted here:

This Parable, long story short, is talking about when Israel becomes a country controlled by the Jewish people. Which happened on May 14th, 1948.

So according to this prophecy the generation that is spoken of, is who we call the baby boomers basically. Based on that. The apocalypse is set to happen sometime between 1948 and 2058 (roughly, no man shall know the exact date).

This is based on a human life span, not many humans live longer than 110 years so I'm safe with calling 110 years as good.

At least that is my understanding of it. Still got 29 years to know if I'm right or wrong though.

A generation everywhere in the Bible is 40 years. Life expectancy was around age 50.

Nope, but 40 is one of the possibilities. A generation can be 40 years, 80 years, or 110 depending. I'm sticking with 110 as that is usually about the longest anyone can live, even if they the healthiest person on earth. I dont think many have made it past 110.

Matthew 24

Verses 1- 3, Jesus talks about The destruction of the temple and its implications.

Verses 4-14, Jesus talks about The flow of history until his return.

Verses 15-35, Jesus talks about the sign of His coming and the end of the age.*

Starting at verse 29 we read

ERV
29 “Right after the trouble of those days, this will happen:

‘The sun will become dark,
and the moon will not give light.
The stars will fall from the sky,
and everything in the sky will be changed.’[c]

30 “Then there will be something in the sky that shows the Son of Man is coming. All the people of the world will cry. Everyone will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds in the sky. He will come with power and great glory. 31 He will use a loud trumpet to send his angels all around the earth. They will gather his chosen people from every part of the earth.

32 “The fig tree teaches us a lesson: When its branches become green and soft, and new leaves begin to grow, then you know that summer is very near. 33 In the same way, when you see all these things happening, you will know that the time[d] is very near, already present. 34 I assure you that all these things will happen while some of the people of this time are still living. 35 The whole world, earth and sky, will be destroyed, but my words will last forever.

In other Bibles verse 34 reads as:
GNT
"Remember that all these things will happen before the people now living have all died."
KJV
"Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled."
NOG
“I can guarantee this truth: This generation will not disappear until all these things take place."
NIRV
"What I’m about to tell you is true. The people living now will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."
MSG
. . .Don’t take this lightly. I’m not just saying this for some future generation, but for all of you. This age continues until all these things take place. Sky and earth will wear out; my words won’t wear out."
GNT
"Remember that all these things will happen before the people now living have all died."

So what happened? Nothing happened, that's what happened.

The sun never became dark.
The moon still gives light.
The stars are still in the sky,
Everything in the sky has not changed.
And everyone did not see the Son of Man coming on the clouds in the sky.

Question: How could Jesus (god) have been so terribly wrong?

Fig trees produce figs TWICE a year in Palestine.

Jesus was using the fig tree to symbolize Israel being reborn in Matt.24:32-34.

The fig tree as a metaphor for Israel The fig tree is also symbollic of Israel itself – It often symbolized the health of the nation both spiritually and physically

Typically, the fig tree blooms before sprouting forth its leaves in the spring, and normally would produce, not one, but two crops of figs each year.

Life expectancy all over the Middle East in those days was around 49 or 50.

The standard round number for a generation is 40 years is well attested.

The "forty-year" period occurs about a dozen times in the Bible.

The signs of Matthew 24 prophecies the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD not the second coming and certainly not some “Rapture” theology that was invented in 1830 AD by John Darby.

When Christians saw the signs, they fled the city and were saved.

When and how long is "This Generation"?

Tribulation “one generation” from 33 A.D. is exactly 70 AD

Second coming or destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD?

1. “Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. ” (Matthew 23:36)

2. “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. ” (Matthew 24:34)

3. “But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. ” (Luke 17:25)

. Jesus said in Matthew 24 that the tribulation and the “end of the Temple” would come within one generation.

A generation is 40 years. Jesus prophesied in 30 AD. The Temple was destroyed 70 AD… exactly one generation later.

The speculation of how long a generation is in the Bible is wide and varied because Rapture advocates ignore the obvious contextual fulfillment of 70 AD and look to some future generation “time clock”, usually in 1948 when Israel gained statehood.

They saw 1988 as a time of the second coming because it was 40 years after 1948. They were wrong again.

Yeup but as I said it's not the only one. You can look it up yourself. It varies, 40 is one yes. 70 is used a lot (I mis spoke and said 80 earlier) and 100 years is used often. These 3 are the most common. So its safe to say that 1 of them is correct. I use 110 just because it is possible for a human to live that long with modern medicine.

It's the Bible, not a physics book. You'll never understand it if your stuck in this rigid literal mind set.

Israel of 1948 is NOT prophesied in the Bible.. Neither is NYC or the EU nor Hitler and the Holocaust. Its bad theology and only about 150 years old.

Futurists bastardize scripture.. Too much Hal Lindsey, Dallas Theological Seminary and Jack Van Impe..

Then you are versed in the Scofield heresy and who paid for it to be written and published.

No clue, never heard of it til just now when you told me and I googled it. Looks like a sensitive topic, so I'm not gonna comment on the subject considering I just briefly glanced over it. Would need a few days of research to make any kind of comment on it.

It's not been fulfilled....yet.
But it was promised in three gospels that it would happen in the lifetime of some of the audience (and apologies to @Skwim for repeating some of what he already said):

Mark 9:1 And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.”

Mark 13:28 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 30 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away before all these things take place.

Matthew 16:28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.”

Matthew 24:32 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place.

Luke 9:27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”
The generation spoken of refers to the Parable of the Fig Tree. Which you posted here:
I respectfully but emphatically disagree. It says plainly that it'll happen SOON.

As is underlined by the fact that Mark (c. 75 CE) posits it as urgent and immediate, Matthew and Luke (80s CE) repeat that synoptically, but by the time John (c. 100 CE) is written it's obviously a dud, so he avoids mentioning it.
This Parable, long story short, is talking about when Israel becomes a country controlled by the Jewish people. Which happened on May 14th, 1948.
The text says nothing of the kind. Biblical Israel magically connected to modern Israel is pure invention, pretend prophecy, finding a portrait of Donald Trump on a slice of watermelon. So I take it you're joking.

It would also be embarrassing for Christians, wouldn't it? ─ considering their long long history of active antisemitism?

Good.

Meanwhile..

Rapture promoters usually claim to have inspiration, are prophets, apostles, "the Elijah", have special illumination from the Holy Spirit and that God has revealed new doctrines not previously known by anyone, including the apostle Paul himself.

Here are some typical statements by famous premillennialists:

a. "God unconditionally promised Abraham's descendants a literal world-wide kingdom over which they would rule through their Messiah who would reign upon King David's throne...Even the animals and reptiles will lose their ferocity and no longer be carnivorous," (The Late Great Planet Earth, Hal Lindsay, p 165)

b. "The nature of the blessings are earthly, territorial, and national, and have nothing to do with a spiritual church to which none of these blessings has been promised ...Christ is not now on the throne of David bringing blessings to Israel as the prophets predicted, but He is rather on His Father's throne waiting for the coming earthly kingdom and interceding for His own who form the church," (The Millennial Kingdom: A Basic Text in Premillennial Theology, John F. Walvoord, p 205, 1983 AD)

The Rapture is a false prophecy from a mentally ill woman named Margaret Macdonald. I don't subscribe to that belief.

Sure, but you do realize that 1 millisecond and 1,000,000 years are exactly the same to God. So if He says soon, it could be just about any amount of time. Relativity is great isn't it!

34 I assure you that all these things will happen while some of the people of this time are still living.

What happened Jesus???
Did you lie, Jesus???
They are all dead and turned into dust and nothing happened!!!!
upload_2019-4-11_15-11-20.jpeg

Is it possible that a person is dead but considered alive in the eyes of God and in the eyes of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Is it possible also that a person is alive but considered dead in their eyes?
What is truly be dead and what is truly alive?

Did Jesus lie?

1 Peter 2:22 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
Christ did not sin
or ever tell a lie.

Luke 8:40-56 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
Everyone had been waiting for Jesus, and when he came back, a crowd was there to welcome him. Just then the man in charge of the Jewish meeting place came and knelt down in front of Jesus. His name was Jairus, and he begged Jesus to come to his home because his twelve-year-old child was dying. She was his only daughter.

upload_2019-4-11_15-45-44.jpeg

While Jesus was on his way, people were crowding all around him. In the crowd was a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years. She had spent everything she had on doctors, but none of them could make her well.

As soon as she came up behind Jesus and barely touched his clothes, her bleeding stopped.

“Who touched me?” Jesus asked.

While everyone was denying it, Peter said, “Master, people are crowding all around and pushing you from every side.”

But Jesus answered, “Someone touched me, because I felt power going out from me.” The woman knew that she could not hide, so she came trembling and knelt down in front of Jesus. She told everyone why she had touched him and that she had been healed right away.

Jesus said to the woman, “You are now well because of your faith. May God give you peace!”

While Jesus was speaking, someone came from Jairus' home and said, “Your daughter has died! Why bother the teacher anymore?”

When Jesus heard this, he told Jairus, “Don’t worry! Have faith, and your daughter will get well.”

Jesus went into the house, but he did not let anyone else go with him, except Peter, John, James, and the girl’s father and mother. Everyone was crying and weeping for the girl. But Jesus said, “The child isn’t dead. She is just asleep.” The people laughed at him because they knew she was dead.

Jesus took hold of the girl’s hand and said, “Child, get up!” She came back to life and got right up. Jesus told them to give her something to eat. Her parents were surprised, but Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.

Honestly I think it's just Gods will. This is how He intends for me to die. I was born with the disease.

Oh my.....please don't think that. :( God never intended for us to die....if you check out Genesis it says that there was only one cause of death for the first humans and that was to disobey God's command concerning the TKGE.
God never wanted anyone to die.....that is why to this day, it feels so wrong.

There was a "tree of life" also in the garden that guaranteed that their mortal lives would never end. Only after they had disobeyed were they evicted from the garden and access to that tree denied. (Genesis 3:22-24)

God never intended this earth to be a training ground for heaven......he already has a large family in heaven....he created us to live in perfect health in beautiful surrounding in paradise here on earth. We were to be caretakers of this planet, endowed with God's qualities so that we could represent him here, taking care of the other lifeforms God created as well as the planet itself....we have failed miserably in that assignment.....but all is not lost. God has promised to return us to the way things were before the fall. There will be no sickness, no suffering or death.....nothing that makes life difficult will spoil the life God has planned for those who love him and keep the faith. (Revelation 21:2-4) Even the dead will rise and families will be reunited. (John 5:28-29) :)

Liberal Arts colleges. Not a liberal college. There is a difference. Liberal Arts is science, math, and academia. Great place to be if you're going into one of those fields, terrible place to go to learn about the Bible. Lemme break it down for ya.

If you reverse the situation it would be like going to a small country Baptist church and trying to learn Quantum Physics from the Preacher, if he's smart he might be able to give you a basic idea but you're just in the wrong place if you want a degree for that.

And your wrong it has never been mainstream Christianity at any point, at least not protestant anyways. I can't speak for the Catholics though they are more like Pagans than Christian's as far as I'm concerned.
