Environmentalist Say Ethanol Is Bad For The Environment.

No, it's not. Nuclear waste being stored in an unsafe way is the norm in America.
So what is your answer for electricity in the U.S.? Note: renewable is not a valid answer unless you denote what type of renewable energy you are talking about.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Actually ozone is a serious pollutant and health hazard. Its only in the high atmosphere that its shielding effect makes it useful.Otherwise its highly toxic.
Electric motors emit ozone. I can see that being a problem involving low atmosphere ozone if everybody's going to have electric cars/trucks someday. Environmentalists will complain and things will be back to square one.

If people could get over their Boogie Man treatment of the subject and allow safe storage areas to open up then it would be about as green as it gets. "Green" is always a relative concept and even with unsafe storage it is greener than coal, or any fossil fuel for that matter.

True. Makes me wonder if some day in the future, everyone will be jettisoning that stuff into space.
Let's hold off on launching highly radioactive materials in the spaceships that don't have a good record of getting into space safely. I doubt that you would like it if the government dropped radioactive sludge on your house.(Unless you got superpowers, but even then it depends on the power.)

I was implying that a electric vehicle is viable if one is only using a car for daily transportation.
If one is using a vehicle other than a car, electric power is not workable in all situations.
In other words until advances in batteries (or their replacement) progress well beyond the present the need for a fossil fueled engine is mandatory.
If the conventional energy conglomerates and their lobbyists would get out of the way, I think electric 'fueling' technology would soon find a way to service the market.
Okay, that's reasonable. I don't think that they have an electric vehicle that can handle a twelve bottom plow yet.
Seems to me the low RPM torque of an electric motor would be ideal for tractors.

Most advocates want mixed systems -- tides, waves, wind, sun and geothermal.

And is the current technology capable of providing all of the electrical power required within the U.S. using those above systems?
I seriously doubt it.

Absolutely! You haven't been reading the latest reports. Wind and solar alone could supply the whole grid.
It's only massive PR and lobbying programs that are keeping the conventional energy industries alive.
