Question for Anti-Trump Democrats

averageJOE

zombie
This is mainly directed at democrats who have the anti-Trump, "anyone but Trump", "any Blue will do" mentality.

Replacing Trump with any of these establishment, moderate, centrist type Democrats running for 2020 (like Kamala Harris, Robert O'Rourke, Joe Biden, Amy Klobuchar, Cory Booker, and I would even add Elizabeth Warren) what exactly is it do you think will change?

The rich will continue to get richer. The poor will continue to get poorer. People will still live paycheck to paycheck. Minimum wage will still be well below a living wage. Millions will still be medically under-insured or not insured. Thousands a year will continue to die because they cannot afford their medications. Oil companies will continue to drill and pollute. Our homeless population will continue to increase. Our criminal justice system will continue to create criminals for profit. We will still wage regime change wars. Money will still control politicians. And on and on.

All Donald Trump did was put an ugly face to these problems. He's the symptom, not the problem. Voting in a centrist Democrat who promises to maintain the status quo will solve what exactly? Saying "anyone but Trump" is just saying (IMO) put in someone who can make me forget that these problems exist.

A centrist democrat will only offer incremental changes to distract you while politicians help big pharma, big oil, Wall Street, big banks, private prisons, the military industrial complex, and all other corporate billionaires make even more money.

How about all the damage and self-serving incompetency Trump has thrust upon the nation. That would be good enough for me.

True, but why make that political party distinction? It going to be the same if it's Trump or Sponge Bob Square Pants. It's just a distraction while what you say is going on is going on.

OK. And...what?

Meanwhile, families are forced to go bankrupt because of medical bills due to an unexpected illness or injury.

Proportion size, though.
No, the size is exactly the same. That's the problem. One is just using white bread and the other is using wheat.

Point is, ALL the problems that are crippling people in this country would still exist. Not any more, and not any LESS.

I think I would try to avoid any portion.

Obviously. No one intentionally eats a **** sandwich (unless they mistook it for something else) and in fact would rather avoid doing so. But if they had to, they would eat as little as possible. Is this not logic?

In democracies, citizens choose glib peabrains to represent them in making policy decisions. So, that's not going to change. However, as an American I'm embarrassed that we elected as our president a glib peabrain that the other nations can't trust.

So you don't think Trump has made things worse?
Trump is a charlatan. Let's just get that out of the way.

Do I think he's made things worse? My answer is that he is just doing what any other establishment politician who gets to the White House would do; maintain the status quo. I will say that his rhetoric fuels hatred, bigotry, and racism that has always existed, and that people now feel justified in expressing it. If anything he made worse it would be that.

But to my points in the OP. Those "things" always existed. And a centrist/establishment Democrat would only make people forget that those "things" exist.

How about this metric: children locked up in indefinite detention without their parents? Do you think there are more or less of them now than under Obama?

If you agree there are more, what other positive do you see in Trump to balance off the negative?

Personally, I don't buy into false equivalencies. However, our system here in the States is not conducive to autocratic domineering or fast changes.

As a British citizen; you as a country would gain much more respect.. USA has gone down in respect massively since Trump became President.

You asked, "Replacing Trump with any of these . . . what exactly is it do you think will change?" all of which denotes an after-election event, not something that takes place now, your "meanwhile."
