Is there such a thing as eternal love?

With or without religion?

With or without God being real?

I know for me there are people i will always love, even in the face of death forever, and i have no God to speak of.

Do secular people experience eternal love?

Or are we all relegated to temporal desires, and love aint an issue in society?

Is your definition of "eternal" to mean as long as as the individual lasts? Because there is another meaning - transcendent of time itself

There is endless eternal love in Christianity

Well even when the person dies you would still love them every bit as much.
Whether they ceased to exist or not is irrelevant.

They are the ones that preach that love throughout the world, and they seem to get overwhelming responses from a lot of people about that. I am aware of their message. And people are profoundly affected by this message.

I more wonder if anyone else has ever felt eternal love before!

I was not referring to the object of the love - I was referring to you as the lover (sorry that is the first term that came to mind)

As long as i live i will have undying love in general, and for many people too.

and God.......and the Favored One
couldn't work it out

There was an episode of the Highlander that had two Immortals that were married to each other for IIRC over 500 years - she finally wanted to leave and he did not want to let go - thereby setting up the episode

If you accept the idea God is every possible way of being within every possible moment of existence in a single experience, then God's love for us is complete, absolute, and eternal. Going the other direction, we can only choose to love God in a fleeting moment. And we have to choose to love God in spite of all our own imperfections in the way we have been created. I think God has the advantage in the relationship.

Without God and only secular people what would eternal love be like?

Consider the following. Our ego, who we think we are that is unique to us, is not unique. None of us invented sex. It is just part of everyone. The same thing is true for every thing we hold dear about ourselves and the people we love. Facets of our characters are the very same facets in everyone else's character. Once you accept the idea your ego is just a delusion, you die, and are reborn to a larger experience of humanity.

As long as humanity continues to live on, you will live on in other people. What you hold dear and feel is important will exist in other people. Once you born-again to this larger perspective you can relax knowing everything you hold dear, everyone you love, will be loved and will continue to exist in other people after they die.

So relax. Humanity has you covered. As long as human race continues our love is eternal.

Without God, there is no love, and without love, there is no eternity. No greater love is that one would die for the one he loves. If you have tasted of the tree of life, the love of God, then you already know God. Religion would be an obstacle to that realization. One must come out of religion, such as the "daughter of Babylon" (Zechariah 2:7).

ENDLESS LOVE

There are countless lives before us
Like the stars up in the sky
But should the cord be cut to this one
Should either of us die
Before our separate spirits
Are entwined and sing as one
Forever more would we be parted
But now the bonding has been done

Now we will know each other
In those lives still yet to be
Though our forms are ever changing
I’ll know you and you’ll know me
We will recognize each other
Passing through life’s endless doors
I will find you in the darkness
Then will our spirits, sing once more

In the countless lives before us
In each one if you’ll be mine
I will pluck a star from heaven
And in the nights of endless time
I will thread them on eternity
One for every life we live
Then when the heavens are devoid of light
The universe to you I’ll give...…...The Anointed

A mothers love for her children will (usually) last until the mothers death.

Some great people will be loved long after their death, some french love Napoleon, many americans love Aba Lincoln.

As for eternal, for ever? Chances are the concept of forever is a pipe dream. Most assuredly this universe will cease to be valid when maximum entropy is achieved. The human race, in fact any organic lifeform will be gone trillions of years by that time

Atheists love philosophical materialism.
