Fear is the cause; Education and Exposure are the cure.

"Queensland Senator Fraser Anning has been widely condemned for his “disgusting” comments in the wake of the fatal Christchurch mosque massacre."

In spite of the disgusting comments; the quote below illustrates my point.

"In a media statement issued this afternoon, Senator Anning said the attacks highlighted the “growing fear over an increasing Muslim presence” in Australian and New Zealand communities."

What do I mean by Exposure?

"Exposure therapy involves exposing the target patient to the anxiety source or its context without the intention to cause any danger. Doing so is thought to help them overcome their anxiety or distress."

This means more open borders, less isolation is a path towards less violence.
One of the best exposures here is to eateries operated by mid-east ex-pats.

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
Ok, like, what?
I imagine the pro gun people are working out how to say "see? Australian and New Zealand gun laws don't stop mass shootings", racist types will be trying to distance themselves from the shooters and/or trying to blame victims (we have a member of parliament who's already released a doozy of a victim blaming statement), anti gun types will be trying to pretend this extreme outlier example is somehow representative, and so on.

Senator’s ‘appalling’ NZ comments

Ah, ok, gotcha. You are speaking from the local
scene, not the forum here.

It is certainly what Americans do, spin every event
to their pov.

Persecution of Muslim people have increased greatly over the last two years....with what has been happening in Mynmar, China and several other places. Now far right terrorists have joined the fray as well.

Is that not using kerosene to put out the fire?

It's just a shame that this thread that was offered up as a consideration for the innocents killed in Christchurch became almost instantly politicized.

To me, this day and this weekend should be sorrowful days as we sympathize with the Muslim community and also the other people of New Zealand.

Comparing China to N Korea is just ignorant.

This is a thread about the mass murders and injuries upon peaceful Muslims in ChristChurch, NZ and requesting that we stand together for the victims and their loved ones.

You seem to have ignored that ............

Islamphobia is sick, bigoted and idiotic, and rares its ugly head again in what was supposed to be a tribute to innocent victims of islamophobic hatred, instead we have examples of the type of hatred that propelled the perpetrator, disgusting.

What I merely trying to say - that attacking Muslims and killing a few of them who I shall presume were peaceful people going about their worship - provides fuel for the radicals to recruit more people and resources to their cause

The vast majority of the 9/11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia who also sponsored Osama bin Laden in his early days - but the political interests in the West choose to overlook that given the $$ and oil that comes from Saudi Arabia

This is lovely! ♥ Our temple is holding a vigil and prayers tonight, the mosques here are on lock down for now, so our Islamic community will be joining us at temple for prayers and donations. Hopefully whatever terrible creatures that caused this destruction and pain will be caught and punished. It's sad that "people" can be so hurtful and cruel to anyone they deem different. To attack a place of worship, or any place you should feel safe is just so disgusting to me. I love that there's a greater number of love and support than hate and it's definitely showing all over the world right now. :)

Comparing China to N Korea is just ignorant.

Now, I figured the response to what I said would be
heedless of what I actually said-

And, do you feel that the word "persecution" is entirely
apt,
in view of the atrocities widely perpetrated by
Muslims?

And I was correct. Perhaps if I had put it in bold,
as I will now. See above.

Now, the word "persecute" of course is open to
much equivocation. One sets out to persecute a
war, persecute his enemies.

But you mean-"merely because he/she happens to fall in an identity group that one happens to hate"...?

Is that your response to my question.

Do you have any thoughts to offer as to why China
feels this is necessary, worth the great cost?

Because if it is-
Sorry-ah, but that is not what is going on re
Tibet or the Uyghur. It is a gross mischaracterization.

Guess I could ask again though..

Do you have any thoughts to offer as to why China
feels this is necessary, worth the great cost?
Because China like N Korea is a tyrannical, intolerant xenophobic regime.

The OP also singled out atheists as a group whose
compassion is in question.

I responded to a scurrilous attack on my country.

YOU seem to have ignored all the other
posts unrelated to the thread title, such as by the
Revolting one on bicycle accident.

Some reason to single me out?

Or to ignore the my posts that are OT?

Or not to "notice" that no thread ever fails
to go off in divers directions?

Because China like N Korea is a tyrannical, intolerant xenophobic regime.

I am sure you feel the comparison is apt,so why
dont go ahead and list all the countries that are
"like N Korea" that way?
Start in S Africa and work north, east, and west.
