Christchurch Mosque shootings in New Zealand

As one of the few New Zealand citizens on this forum I am truly shocked. The last terrorist attack in New Zealand was when the French blew up the Rainbow Warrior in 1985, a boat used by Greenpeace to protest against the French Testing nuclear weapons in the Pacific.

This time Muslims are the victims. Unarmed and peaceful they were shot while attending Friday prayers at two mosques. It is a despicable and cowardly act.

We have all the Islam haters here and in the world to thank for the kind of attitudes that made this attack possible.

Terrible, absolutely terrible.

My deepest condolences to the families for those who have lost their lives and my best wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured.

Devastating attacks on mosques are unfortunately becoming more and more common.

Why is there so much hatred in the world today?

It has risen to 49 and many injured.

That would make this tied with the second deadliest mass shooting in history (behind the Las Vegas shootings and tied with the Orlando shootings). I'm not sure what to make of this, but it is disturbing.

This goes beyond the typical "lone nut" killings, as there were four people arrested and the attack was apparently well-planned. It's like the crazies are getting organized.

Yes, we have let disunity fester too long.

Many innocent people have now been killed by hate, that should never be free thought.

I think if we did a long term study of many such attacks, all religions (and the non-religious) would be found as perpetrators and victims alike. Yes, some faiths and paradigms would be more common. I don't see it so much as a religious problem, but both a mental health problem, and a purely ignorance (lack of knowledge of cultures) problem. I think solutions should be sought in society generally, not by any particular religion.

It is awful and heart-wrenching, so sad.

I find it pretty overwhelming how much hate and violence is occurring in the world, but I think it's and indication that earth's history is winding down and we are in the last days where satan is inspiring more people to act out in unrestrained, blatant hatred. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). The scriptures say that before just Christ returns it will be....
"as the days of Noah" ( Matt. 24:37; Luke 17:26). Genesis 6:13 says that during the days of Noah the earth was filled with violence.

At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many will grow cold...
Matthew 24:10-12

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good...2 Timothy 3:3
