Why worship god?

Why worship God? Because Gods are the givers of life. Without Gods, nothing would exist. So we are grateful and we honor them with rituals. But most importantly, Gods show the way with dharma. so with gods, we live and if we follow dharma, we live well. :)
Are there other reasons?

My "worship" is mostly along the line of meditating on what is morally acceptable and/or what I should or should not be doing, and this is also what I do during services.

Can I ask a question?

If you were a god, why would you want or even expect 'worship'? I mean, an occasional, "Thanks" would be ok, but constant worship. urgh!
If I were god, I'd be embarrassed and tell people to ease off a bit.
Isn't it all a bit narcissistic?

God showed me how to be an Existential Buddhist with the right thoughts and dharmic actions. So I am grateful to God and worship Him.

That isn't a good reason, from the Bible's perspective. The reason would be sovereignty.

We have a free will to worship or not to worship: God expects nothing. But if one follows a code of conduct and remain surrendered (it is our choice) He does help iron out our material difficulties that we might be going through. It is not faith but just the reality of the correspondence one has with God residing in our hearts and minds.

Gods expect nothing. we worship them on our own will.

Well so you say.

I find it remarkable, all the things people know about
what "god" knows, thinks, wants, feels etc, although
the actual existence of god(s) is in question, as
there is no means of detecting it.

God has, in fact, all the exact same properties as
anything else that does not exist, such as chupacabre,
batboy, or the unicorn.

How does unicorn feel, what does it expect? :D

In plain English, would you define "dharma" for me please?
"Dharma" as a word has a multitude of meanings, and the correct one will depend a lot on the exact context.

Generally speaking, all of its conotations are positive or at worst neutral. In the OP it seems to be used with a meaning not too far off from "virtuous teachings".

My own question to you, @syo , is about something else.

What would constitute worship? Who decides which form it is supposed to have, or if it is at all a good thing?

Don't you think he should make a proclamation saying, something along the lines of, "don't waste time praising me, do something useful instead"

Not all gods require worship. Some gods you might want to "please" to earn favor. Some gods are more generally a nuisance so you might make an offering just to keep them out of your hair.

The gods which usually get worshiped embody the ideal being/entity. Omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. In this case I think it is a matter of worshiping the ideal. To focus on this ideal to guide us in life.

When I used a digital clock to communicate with Him (sightings of 7 eg 2.41, 3.04, 4.12, 5.02, 6.01, 7.00, 8.08, 9.07, 10.42, 11.32, etc) meant that He wanted me to do somethings either for my own benefit or for Him, and I followed the instructions. He would therefore guide me into my dharmic actions that were required to save me from peril, as I saw it: so I worshipped Him. The choice is ours; if we can manage without Him all the better for Him and us.

I agree the choice is yours but this almighty being can surely see you are wasting time when you could be (say) cooking, helping the elderly, teaching a child, etc.

I was in utter need for divine help as I found there to be no one on this Earth that I could turn to in my hour of need. I stumbled upon the use of digital clock to exchange messages with God when reading Linda Goodman's Star Signs book that I came across accidentally. I needed Him, and He made it clear to me that He was only coming to help me because of my devotion to Him. Now I am free of the need to consult Him and He says in effect: get on with your life and stop bothering me. I listen.
